Picnic Area by the Water, Tromtö Nature Reserve

Highlight • Rest Area

Tromtö is known for its beautiful beech forest and invites you to take walks through this magnificent landscape with its coastal character, farmland, and oak groves. Tromtö was formerly part of a manor house belonging to the Johannishus Gods estate. South of Tromtö Manor lies a so-called "English Park," and the walking paths around a wooded hill stand out clearly from the landscape. On the east side, these paths lead to a viewpoint overlooking Västra Fjärden.

Tromtö Nature Reserve is located on a cape at Tromtöfjärden between the road to Hasslö and Nättraby in Ronneby municipality. The nature reserve consists largely of old oak and beech forest and is 1,242 ha, of which 374 ha is land area and begins at Hjortahammar's grave field on the road to Hasslö. The peninsula has been part of the manor landscape that belonged to the Johannishus estate.

The nature reserve is rich in insects, including oak beetles and wood fungi, some of which are rare, such as saffron crocus, torticollis and sea crocus. At the outermost cape, Tromtö nabb, there is a beautifully situated natural harbor with floating docks and space for over 40 recreational boats. The harbor is run by Karlskrona Navigationssällskap.

A beautiful hike through beech forest and heathland, with peacefully grazing sheep. The trail is well marked (red wooden posts). If the 8.7 km is too long, there are easy shortcuts.

Very nice little circular hike through the varied terrain of a former country estate. With a beautiful, rustic mixed deciduous forest, wet meadows and forest pastures.
