I was really looking forward to the tour around Ringkøbing Fjord and hoped that the weather would be good..... .... and then today was the perfect day😎 The weather was amazing, blue skies and ☀️☀️, pleasant temperatures and little wind. And the route was absolutely varied and very easy to ride. The harbor in Stauning was absolutely idyllic. Driven to and inspected several shelters along the route. Next on the to-do list😜 Otherwise, went swimming in the fjord and the North Sea. It was an almost perfect day today🥰😎
WHAT MUST DATT MUST... This tour is a must if you're already up here. THOR meant well for me too, only sent a light crosswind 🌬 I opted for the gravel tour instead of the road... After Ringkøbing it was unspectacular, but that changed from Bork Havn onwards. Wonderful landscapes, with exciting bridges... At the shooting range the red balls 🔴 were down, so I was allowed to go through. Otherwise I enjoyed all the Danish specialists, soft ice cream 🍦hot dog 🌭 and beer 🍺 😋
Stauning to Ringkøbing is a bit boring. But there is no other way :-)
Beautiful tour through the dunes with great bike paths (North Sea Coastal Cycle Route). In Hvide Sande, we took a nice break at a café where they have tons of delicious food. From there, we headed towards Bagges Dæmning, which leads to Ringkøbing. There are plenty of places to rest with benches, some of which also have tools and air pumps. After Ringkøbing, there are about 30 km of road that are a bit tough. When we get off the beaten track (Stauning) again, it's great again; it's really fun to cycle through the landscapes. Unfortunately, Komoot crashed at the last shelter, so there are no photos of the cable ferries. This part is really fun; it zigzags back to the fjord and then always follows the waterline back to Bork Havn.
Holiday in 🇩🇰 at Ringkøbing Fjord, it is clear that I have to drive around there Great weather today☀️☀️☀️, so let's go! Initially started against the wind on the east bank of the fjord, muscle strength was required after a short time💪. Two cable ferries had to be moved in order to cross waters, I haven't had anything like that either🤣. After a while you reach the beautiful Ringkøbing and circle the fjord over the Baggers Dæming dam to the north and reach the west side of the fjord. With a slight tail wind, it was easy to "gravitate" through heather and dune landscapes on gravel paths between the North Sea and the fjord. At Lyndvik Fyr lighthouse, take a detour to the North Sea and then on to Hvide Sande. Almost run over two adders on the way😳. On the east side of the fjord, it went through a completely different landscape back to the holiday home. Great tour on which the gravel bike was moved "appropriately" ... 😉😁.
My second trip around the fjord, after November 22. Overall, a great tour. I started again in Ringkøbing and cycled counterclockwise. From Hvide Sande, I followed the West Coast Cycle Route. The official Komoot route runs along the road, which isn't a problem in itself and would be easier to cycle, but it's more entertaining through the dunes. The last 15 km, which run along the road, are still the more boring part. Otherwise, a great tour and beautiful scenery with great trails.
A wonderful trip around the Sôndervig Fjord, including two trips on the cable ferry, which is operated using muscle power, and a stiff breeze from the northwest. There was also a flat tire, tubeless tires failed... So it was a perfect day.
Finest gravel, plenty of nature, and two hand-operated ferries. What more could you want? 🤗
