This tour has it all: relaxed cruising, spectacular scenery, and a challenging yet stunningly beautiful Alpine pass. From Vipiteno, you'll first cycle almost 80 kilometers downhill through the Eisack Valley to Bolzano – then it's a long, sometimes steep climb to the Pennes Pass. A route full of scenic highlights, perfect for those who enjoy long rides.
After starting in Vipiteno, you'll enjoy magnificent views toward Stilfes. The Brenner Cycle Route takes you past Franzenfeste, through Bressanone to Bolzano. The route offers a variety of meadows, rocky landscapes, and old railway tunnels. A short break in Bressanone or Chiusa is a good idea – perhaps with an ice cream?
The challenging part begins in Bolzano: You'll cycle steadily uphill through the idyllic Sarntal Valley along the Talfer River on a quiet road. The last few kilometers to the Penser Joch are steep, but spectacular views await you at the top – and then you race down the long and winding descent back to Sterzing.

I strongly advise against taking this tour in the suggested direction. The first part of the road that leads from Bolzano to Val Sarentino is characterized by several long uphill tunnels where cars whizz by at high speed. I believe, as do all the Bolzano cyclists I know, that this stretch is extremely
