This route was planned by komoot.
The Listerlandet Trail is classified as a moderate bike ride. While it features mostly paved sections suitable for various skill levels, some unpaved segments and an elevation gain of around 200 meters require a good level of fitness. It's possible to complete the entire loop in one day or opt for shorter sections.
The trail offers a diverse mix of surfaces. You'll primarily cycle on paved roads, but also encounter small country roads, dirt roads, and paths. This variety adds to the scenic experience, taking you through different environments.
The loop starts and ends in Sölvesborg, making it easily accessible. You can find parking within Sölvesborg. For those arriving by public transport, Sölvesborg has good connections, and the trail is designed to be easily reached from the town center.
The route is rich in highlights. You'll cross the impressive Sölvesborg Bridge, Europe's longest pedestrian and bicycle bridge. Other notable spots include a Beautiful Sandy Beach, charming fishing villages like Hällevik and Nogersund, and the Brygghuset Café & Art. The trail also passes through the Sillnäs Nature Reserve and offers views of Listerhuvud, the peninsula's highest point.
The Listerlandet Trail can be enjoyed throughout the year, with each season offering a unique experience. However, the warmer months from spring to early autumn generally provide the most pleasant cycling conditions, allowing you to fully appreciate the coastal views and outdoor cafes.
While dogs are generally welcome in outdoor areas in Sweden, specific rules may apply in nature reserves or on beaches. It's always best to keep dogs on a leash, especially in areas with wildlife or other visitors, and to clean up after them. Check local signage for any specific restrictions.
No, you do not need any special permits or have to pay entrance fees to cycle the Listerlandet Trail. It is freely accessible to the public.
Yes, the trail passes through several communities and recreation areas where you can find opportunities for fika, ice cream, or a meal. Fishing villages like Hällevik and Nogersund, as well as Sölvesborg itself, offer various cafes and restaurants.
You'll experience a highly picturesque and varied landscape. Expect to cycle through expansive beech forests, open fields, and cultural landscapes. A significant portion offers stunning coastal views, fine white sandy beaches, and charming fishing villages. The route also goes through several nature reserves, showcasing diverse flora and fauna.
Yes, the Listerlandet Trail is part of a broader network. The route largely follows the official 'Cykelled Listerlandet' (87% of the route) and also intersects with sections of the 'Sydostleden' (Karlshamn - Sölvesborg) and 'Banvallsleden', among others. It is also integrated into Ark56, a network for outdoor activities in Blekinge.
While the entire 53 km loop is classified as moderate and might be challenging for very young children, shorter, paved sections are suitable for families. The varied scenery and opportunities for stops at beaches or cafes make it enjoyable. Consider cycling only a portion of the trail or using a bike trailer for younger kids.
Without breaks you can go much faster and sometimes the bicycle signs have left us
Nice tour that we copied from an ancestor of Komoot. Tour passed through much rural area. We were amazed at the variety and quantity of crops grown on the arable land. The marking of the route was not great. Without Komoot we would have been pretty much out in the rain. You should definitely visit the beach bar. I've been enjoying the tastiest draft beer there, well chilled, in the accompanying glass, with a fine foam crown for a week to the fullest. What a blessing after about 50 km of pedaling and that in the warmth.🍺😄🤪🥴
