An early morning start is recommended for this tour, as with over 200 kilometers and 5,000 meters of elevation gain, the tour across four of the most beautiful Alpine passes will be a long but guaranteed unique day in the saddle, whatever your fitness level.

With the fresh wind in your face, you make your way up the nine hairpin bends to the Oberalp Pass. After just the first pedal strokes, you'll be amidst magnificent Alpine scenery, conquering the 600 meters of elevation gain in the morning stillness. The second climb of the day, the Lukmanier, is also a joyful undertaking thanks to its smooth and gentle approach.

After the Ospizio at the reservoir, you'll be traveling in Ticino for the next 100 kilometers. And you'll notice this in the changing surroundings. Rusticos and old stone churches in the Valle Blenio, the occasional palm tree around Biasca, and the charm of northern Ticino in the Leventina and Val Bedretto border your path to the challenging Nufenen Pass. While you've reached the highest point, you're not at your destination yet: 40 kilometers through the fourth canton of the day, you'll ride through Valais toward the Rhone Glacier up to the Furka Pass, the fourth-highest pass in Switzerland. A pat on the back and thigh as a sign of bravo, a fourth souvenir photo at the pass sign, and then off to dinner in Andermatt.

Over the Oberalp to the pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

If you drive from Andermatt toward the Oberalp Pass, you'll encounter nine steep hairpin bends immediately after the village. From Nätschen onward, the climb gradually levels off, and the high valley, the Oberalp, stretches out before you. A wonderful section on the way to the pass, one that's easy to enjoy thanks to the moderate gradient!

Oberalp Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

At the Oberalp Pass at 2,044 meters, not only is the obligatory "passport photo" waiting at the Oberalp Pass sign, but also the only lighthouse in the Alps. It comes from Rotterdam, where the original lighthouse can be found in the Maritime Museum, which once stood in Hoek van Holland, at the mouth of the Rhine into the North Sea - thus completing the circle from the source to the mouth.

Lukmanier Pass from Disentis

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

From Disentis up the Val Medel to the Lukmanier Pass – a dream 🤩. Except for a few short exceptions, the road is very easy to ride with a gradient of around 5%. The long valley offers wonderful views in all directions and, despite the lack of hairpin bends, is a lot of fun to ride.

Furka Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Furkapasshöhe is at 2,436 meters and is a popular destination for hikers, cyclists and drivers. Not far is the Hotel Furkablick, which has seen its prime, is slowly decaying and yet remains a charming photo motif. There is currently a bus stop there.

James Bond Goldfinger Curve

Highlight • Monument

In the small parking lot next to the pass road, a street sign commemorates an absolute classic in James Bond film history: the chase in the Swiss Alps in the film Goldfinger from 1965.
