This route was planned by komoot.
The starting point was Gstaad, where I took the regional train to Saanenmöser (2 stations, about 15 minutes). The journey is free with the guest card. From Saanenmöser we went back to Gstaad via Schönried. An easy tour, past many playgrounds, fields, cows and the Horneggli mountain station. Of course, the tour can also be done the other way around.
The hike from Saanenmöser (1,270 m) to Gstaad (1,050 m) is a true classic pleasure in the Saanenland. It gently leads you downhill through a postcard landscape of wide meadows and magnificent Bernese Oberland chalets 🤩. From the pass height in Saanenmöser, you follow well-maintained paths that meander sunnily along the slope. Particularly impressive is the constant view of the opposite Wildstrubel massif and the distinctive Rüeblihorn 🏔️✨. Since the route is mostly downhill, there is plenty of energy left to enjoy the region's architecture and alpine tranquility 🌲. The path finally ends in the chic Gstaad, where the charming promenade invites you for a final coffee or window shopping ☕🛍️. 📌 Data & Facts 🥾 Distance: approx. 7–9 km ⏱️ Duration: 2 h – 2.5 h ⛰ Elevation: approx. 50 m ascent / 270 m descent ⚠️ Difficulty: T1 – very easy pleasure hike ⭐ Highlights 💙 Gentle descent experience with panoramic guarantee 🏘️ Passing by the most elegant chalets in the Saanenland 🏔️ Unobstructed view of the rugged limestone peaks of the Gummfluh ☀️ Maximum sunshine along the entire route 🚂 Perfect connection with the Montreux-Bernese Oberland Railway (MOB)
Fantastic winter weather I added the two beautiful return trip photos of the Alps near Wimmis and Bern
