My new hiking boots broke in today. Unfortunately, my feet have gotten wider and I can no longer wear my beloved Lowa Renegade. Now it has become the Hanwag Banks, in which I also feel very comfortable 🙂
Round in the Holter forest, like everywhere there was a lot of water and mud... some of the paths were really under water, but it was dry and even some sun!
The castle trail mostly leads through the Holter forest. It connects the hunting lodge in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock with Verl. After about 10 km you reach the Mühlcafé. The hiking trail then leads another 3 km along the banks of the natural Ölbach through sometimes dense, sometimes loosely overgrown forest and through meadows back to the Holte hunting lodge, where the Holter Schlosskrug also invites you to linger. Connecting paths make shorter circular routes possible! Conclusion: We really liked the forest sections - the world is still in order here 👍🏻
A beautiful group of women on International Women's Day. This route through the Holter Forest is a good training session for everything that is to come (20 km 💚). 😺☮️🇺🇦
In glorious (and completely unforeseen) weather, a typical standard hike through the Holter Forest, which was unsurprisingly busy today. Of course, a stop at the quaint Mühlcafé was included; this time I had tomato soup with cocoa – an unusual but very tasty combination :)

The Schlossweg (Castle Trail) in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock is an ideal, relaxing walk for dreary November days! Starting near Holte Hunting Lodge, the tour through the Holter Forest offers hardly any inclines and is wonderfully easy to walk. We walked almost exclusively on quiet forest and woodland paths. A particular highlight was the natural section along the idyllic Ölbach stream, which retains its charm even in the gray of November. A perfect route to fully experience the atmosphere of late autumn 🥾🍁
