This route was planned by komoot.
The terrain is quite varied, offering a dynamic mountain biking experience. You'll find a mix of narrow singletracks and wider forest roads. Expect challenging sections with sandy ravines, roots, and rocks. There are also built features like berms, tabletops, and rock gardens, especially on some of the newer singletracks.
Bike Park Obiszów is generally considered an intermediate route with a moderate physical rating. It features an "interval character" with numerous short, steep climbs and descents. Some specific sections are rated as 4 out of 5 in difficulty, and sandy uphill sections can be quite demanding. However, there are also dedicated singletracks designed for learning fundamentals, making it suitable for a range of riders.
The route offers several interesting sights. You'll pass by the Obiszów Piast Fort Reconstruction, which is a historical site. There's also the challenging MTB climb to Baba Jaga, and you'll ride past a scenic Unnamed lake. The trail also winds through the Uroczysko Obiszów nature reserve, featuring a forest river and a ravine with an ancient Slavic settlement.
While the trail is located in a natural forest area, specific regulations regarding dogs are not explicitly stated. It's generally advisable to keep dogs on a leash to protect local wildlife and ensure the safety of other trail users. Always clean up after your pet.
The trail is likely best enjoyed during the spring, summer, and early autumn months when the weather is milder and the forest is lush. During these seasons, the ground conditions are generally more favorable for mountain biking. Winter conditions, including snow and ice, could make some sections challenging or impassable.
There is no mention of specific permits or entrance fees required to access Bike Park Obiszów or the Uroczysko Obiszów nature reserve for recreational use. However, it's always a good idea to check local regulations before your visit, especially if you plan to participate in organized events.
The trail is located near Grębocice. While specific parking areas aren't detailed, it's common for forest trails like this to have designated parking spots at common access points or trailheads. Look for parking options in or around Grębocice, or consult a detailed map for specific trailhead parking.
Yes, the route intersects with several other paths. While riding, you'll encounter sections of the Szlak rowerowy po gminie Grębocice, Szlak Polskiej Miedzi, Szlak Dziadoszan, and the Dolnośląska Droga św. Jakuba, among others. This offers opportunities to extend or vary your ride if you wish.
Yes, the main 35 km loop is notably well-marked with 333 red arrows or posts. However, some turns, particularly left turns at higher speeds, may require extra attention to ensure you stay on the correct path.
Yes, riders should be prepared for challenging sections. The sandy ravines can be demanding, even for experienced cyclists. The MTB climb to Baba Jaga is also known to be notoriously difficult. Some uphill sections with loose sand can test your endurance and technical skills.
The route largely winds through lush forests and passes by scenic small lakes. You'll experience the natural beauty of the Uroczysko Obiszów nature reserve, with its forest river and ravine. While it doesn't offer mountain vistas, the area provides pleasant views of fields and is praised for making the most of its natural surroundings, including reconstructed Dziadoszan strongholds that add a historical touch.
Inspired by last week's Solid, I decided to try MTB 😂. I went to the closest bike park I know, Obiszów, where I have about 40 minutes by car. The first 12 km are very technical, then a great part to the ~280 mark and the end is quite technical again. A lot of cool singles, although I lack technique and once I almost fell into the bushes 😆. In addition, descents where in places you can only make the sign of the cross 🤣 (steep, roots, uneven surface). While mechanical disc brakes don't bother me in gravel, here I can't imagine any other than hydraulic. On the bike marathon website, the route is marked with 1/5 stars in terms of technical difficulty, so I don't even want to know what routes 4 and 5/5 look like 😅. It's a bit of a shame that a large part of the route is quite overgrown. On some sections you can also find remnants of forestry work. In places there are really nice views, and at the end of the route there is a wooden reconstruction of the Dziadoszanie castle. It certainly wasn't easy for an MTB layman like me, but I think I'll come back here to practice my riding technique and climbs up the hills.
