Rundtour Bad Neuenahr Nr. 3 – Von Bachem entlang der Ahr hinauf zum Steckenberg

Golden autumn weather for a varied tour through vineyards and forests on the Ahr. The tour is marked with number 3 throughout. Steep climb up the Neuenahrer Berg. From the tower there were magnificent views over the Ahr valley to the Siebengebirge and the Cologne Cathedral spires. Traces of the flood are still visible in the center of Bad Neuenahr: closed buildings ready for demolition, many new buildings, an Ahr in order in the riverbed and relics such as bridge parts and art in the spa gardens.

From the starting point at the Lourdes Chapel, the tour leads through the wine village of Bachem and further along the Ahr to the spa park in Bad Neuenahr. I hadn't seen Neuenahrer Berg before. The walk up is no walk in the park, but it's absolutely worth it – especially now in spring, when everything explodes into lush green. Steckenberg is less well-known, but no less charming. Here, too, there are narrow paths, vineyards, and a touch of wilderness. If you're lucky, you won't see a soul – except maybe a few deer (like I did today 😉).
