Lag da Pigniu – an enjoyable loop

You begin this tour directly in the small mountain village of Pigniu. The route around Lag da Pigniu is ideal for a leisurely day of hiking. As soon as you reach the dam, an impressive mountain backdrop opens up, with the turquoise lake nestled within it – surrounded by steep cliffs and waterfalls.

A wide gravel path leads you to the far end of the lake, where you'll find a barbecue area with firewood and seating. In early summer, when the meltwater swells the falls, the valley transforms into a spectacular scene of spray, light, and stone. You cross the stream and follow the bank on the other side. The path is a bit narrower there, but easily accessible, and offers repeated beautiful views over the water.

Shortly before the destination, you'll come to a second barbecue area – in case you missed the first one or simply feel like taking another break. Then you'll head over the dam and take a side road back to Pigniu.
