In the northeast of Tenerife lies one of the island's green gems, the Anaga Rural Park. It's one of the oldest ecosystems on the planet: the laurel forest, a humid subtropical forest with an enormous amount of foliage that traps the humidity of the Atlantic and creates a fairytale landscape.

The Anaga Mountains are a MUST if you are cycling in Tenerife. The alternative route to the main road has little traffic and is nice to drive. The ridge road above is a dream 😍 But honestly: the section through the city is terrible. Traffic lights, smelly cars and the air is stagnant. I started from Tegueste. My tip: I would drive back along the ridge road in the Anaga Mountains. The view is just too beautiful and you can avoid the stuffy city. Logo, unfortunately you also miss the departure to San Andres, but it would be worth it to me 🙃
I'm cold. Really cold. My left thigh is throbbing, and I hope I can still make it to our destination without a cramp. I check my Wahoo for the third time in a row and estimate our approximate arrival time... We've been riding in the rain for about 2.5 hours through the Anaga Mountains in northeast Tenerife. This region is considered the wettest in Tenerife. We see very little of the impressive landscape today. The climb into the Anaga Mountains begins in San Andrés. In 20km, we gain 1,000 meters of elevation and find ourselves amidst laurel forests. The descent takes us down gravel to Tegueste. My thigh holds up without a cramp. Arriving in Tegueste, we receive a warm welcome from Xirahi, our Warmshowers host. I'm shivering from the cold and am incredibly excited for a warm shower and a cup of tea. The forecast for tomorrow is sunshine in the north of Tenerife.
A nice little round in the north-east of Tenerife high in the Anaga Mountains. Alas, the passover wind was hellish. It blew me over several times, especially on the driveway. I haven't experienced anything like that. So yeah, it's not called the Windy Mountain for nothing. On the rest of the tour, however, the gusts came well. The north is beautiful, fluffy, green. It's fun to drive through the dense forests. However, it was quite damp, foggy and therefore fresh. Anyway, nice tour!
If the tour starts with 18% ramps, you are inclined to drop the spoon straight away. After a short break for reflection, you instead continue to crank diligently, which takes you through the clouds hanging in the mountain to the crest of the Anaga Mountains. You will be rewarded by magnificent views to the north and south and a fast, 15 km long descent to San Andrès.
Very nice tour, few cars (in the morning) and a bit cold at the top
