Gemsweg (Chamois Trail) Saas-Fee

The hike along the Saas-Fee Gemsweg Trail rewards you with everything your heart desires: sunny heights, rushing streams, and spectacular views of glaciers, the four-thousand-meter peaks of the Mischabel range, and picturesque Saas-Fee.

Your hike begins high up on the sunny Hannig mountain above Saas-Fee. The Hannigbahn cable car takes you to the mountain station at an altitude of 2,336 meters in no time. Up here, a large sun terrace at the mountain restaurant invites you to relax and enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery.

From Hannig, you hike through the vast alpine landscape below the Mällig. Your path soon leads you along narrow, somewhat exposed paths – you'll need surefootedness here. Along the way, you'll follow the roaring Torrenbach stream, while the panorama of Saas-Fee and its imposing peaks opens up ever more impressively. You can even marvel at the foothills of the mighty Fee Glacier from here.

Accompanied by the powerful rushing of the Torrenbach stream, the trail now leads you downhill via numerous switchbacks. The first half of the route ends at the former moraine of the Fee Glacier. The retreat of the glacier has created a unique scree landscape with a network of small streams that feed the glacial lake. The hiking trail follows the ridge of the moraine downhill before turning right above the lake and leading up to the "Gletschergrotte" restaurant. Where skiing is a busy activity in winter, you will now find pleasant peace. You will leisurely hike along an old irrigation channel back to the village of Saas-Fee.

In the car-free mountain village, you can end the tour in a relaxed manner – ideally with regional delicacies from the Valais.
