Here the Algarve becomes flatter and we go through a large bird sanctuary, even with flamingos 🦩, and past many salt marshes.
Start from the port in Faro on the Eurovelo cycle path 1. Official obstacles (grid across the cycle path) still had to be overcome in Faro. Thankfully, resourceful cyclists had already cut large extinguishers into the wire mesh. The circumnavigation of the airport just behind the fence was exciting. It felt like a plane landed or took off every 5 minutes. Then it went through the nature reserve Ria de Formosa with its salt lakes, z. T. were colored deep red (?). Then we went through the glamorous holiday resort of Quinta da Lago (as a cyclist you don't want to be buried there😨. We continued on beautiful wooden high cycle paths to Villamore and the imposing marina. This is Portugal's largest port with luxury yachts from 100 million up to 600 million What is the cost of the world.!?After that it was completely normal again, huge and at that time lonely sandy beaches invited to swim in the 20 ° C cold Atlantic Ocean.A short detour to the cliff in Porto Bay gave us a phenomenal view
Today we started in Albufeira. Once we left the city behind us, it was easy to drive on side roads and the familiar gravel roads in between. We pass golf courses, of which there are many here, until we arrive at the nature reserve. There are kilometers of wooden plank paths. Great to drive, except for the barriers every now and then 😊. Saw many different species of birds and at the very end, even flamingos 🦩! Right next to Faro airport. The salt lakes were there too.
