Today we set off for the wild tulip festival of the municipality of Gau-Odernheim in glorious spring hiking weather. Unfortunately, my smartphone died shortly before the wild tulips, so I can only mention that the wild tulips are located in the direction of the viewing tower on the hill. Unfortunately, the path there is no longer marked on this route. The tulips had unfortunately already mostly faded, but were still beautiful to look at. You just shouldn't expect huge fields of large-flowered tulips, as wild tulips have rather small flowers on delicate stems. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the tour... The views are fantastic, you can even see the Frankfurt skyline, and the rolling hills in spring are a feast for the eyes.
The tour starts in the parking lot of the Petersberg-Halle and first leads to Bechtolsheim. On the paths through the Rheinhessen vineyards, the loop first goes around, then up onto the Petersberg. In suitable weather, you have a wide 360° panoramic view from there to the Frankfurt skyline, the Odenwald forest, and the Donnersberg in the Palatinate.
Today we went to the Petersberg, in the middle of Rhoihesse. Towards the end we went up the "mountain" and the sky opened up so that we had a great view of the plains again
