Bliznec – Puntijarka mountain hut (Trail 19)

This is a scenic hike that immerses you in the natural wonder of the Medvednica Nature Park and takes you all the way to Puntijarka mountain hut. Enjoy the depth of flora and fauna, as you hike up through dense forest teeming with birdlife, and where roe deer, wild boar and hare roam free.

It’s a moderately difficult hike on forest trails so we’d recommend sturdy footwear along with wet-weather gear, just in case.

The initial steady gradient is a great way to warm up the legs before the trail steepens on the approach to the Njivice shelter. At just under halfway, it's a perfect spot to rest the legs and enjoy some snacks amidst nature’s calming chorus.

From Njivice, the trail is more demanding, with a continuously steeper gradient. Your reward, however, is a quieter experience as this trail is less popular than the easier, wider paths. The junction with trail 107 indicates that there’s not far to go! From here, there’s just around 150 metres (500 ft) of ascent to the Puntijarka hut, the park’s largest. Expect plenty of scrumptious food options as well as accommodation.
