This route was planned by komoot.
... actually sailing ⛵️ was planned for today ... but since wind & sun were stingy with their charms ... for me it was hiking boots 🥾 on and off ... the photo idea with the autumn leaf 🍁 came from Antonius 🧑 🌾 "stolen" from @kiss... 😉 ... for the subsequent coffee gossip with Sylva - I brought some cake home with me...
DAV group hike of the Schwabmünchen section with 15 participants in and around Weiler im Allgäu, led by Alexandra S. and Stefan M. In perfect weather, we took the train from Schwabmünchen to Röthenbach im Allgäu, from there a few kilometers by bus (12) to Weiler train station. ATTENTION: do not look for "Weiler im Allgäu", that would be a small settlement/district north of Wangen! So: Weiler-Simmerberg district of Weiler! First we walked a short distance past a few houses and a church and then we "disappeared" at the Hausbach. The gorge is an impressive natural spectacle. Via Schnellers the path took us to the Enschenstein, a small, short mountain ridge, or rather: a small massif made of conglomerate rock. Be careful at the top of the edge: danger of falling!! After a long break we went back to Weiler via Salmers and the Siebersquelle. At Café Mangold we were able to regain our strength in the garden before taking the bus and train from the (former) train station back to Schwabmünchen.
We went on the premium hiking trail "Aussichtsreich Klamm&Mythen", unfortunately the 1st kilometer is missing, but the destination = start and signage is great
Perfect tour in today's high summer temperatures: Hausbachklamm with cable car, Trogener Moor, Enschenstein, and Siebersquelle - mostly in the shady forest, often along the refreshing water. And as a reward there was an ice cream in the Café Mangold in Weiler.
Regarding the trail, it's priced as a premium hiking trail, and in our opinion, it certainly deserves this distinction. There are many information boards along the trail. The paths are well-maintained and well-kept. Wire mesh has been strung over the wet, greasy wooden walkways—all without an entrance fee.
The name "promising" says it all! I deliberately chose this direction to go up the gorge ↗️ - it's simply more beautiful! However, there was so much to see and so much to marvel at that I barely made any progress 😅. While it's not comparable to the Partnach Gorge – in my opinion the most beautiful – it's still great in a different way. I was relatively disappointed by the advertised moors. But maybe my expectations were just too high after too many 'Inspector Barnaby' films 😀😉. All in all, the gorge is really worth seeing, although the second half, with its moors and forest, is rather average, so I took a shortcut in the last 1/3.
