The Cornalvo Natural Park Route, in Mérida, is a circular route that begins very close to the Campomanes farmhouse. We recommend arriving by car, parking on the side of the road at the starting point. After a pleasant start, you reach the historic Roman dam of the Cornalvo reservoir. We invite you to stop and appreciate this beautiful spot.
After crossing it, you continue along a path between holm oaks and rockroses bordering the reservoir until you reach the Mentidero farmhouse. From there, an uphill and downhill trail crosses the Rugidero area, next to the Las Muelas stream, and flows into the reservoir of the same name, an ideal area for birdwatching. If you have brought binoculars, don't hesitate to use them; it's a good place to do so.
The route continues along a wide track between meadows until it connects with the park's main track. Head southwest to the top of Sierra Bermeja along the Suministros road, with the Terrero peak on your right.
The last trail of this beautiful and secluded route passes through a cork oak forest and the picturesque Calle Sierpes, ending with a stretch through brambles that takes you back to the starting point, in Campomanes.
