High alpine hike to the legendary Untersberg with a nice alpine stopover

A very beautiful and very pleasant path. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't quite on our side.

A magnificent, physically demanding tour, mostly on climbs, a few places are a bit rougher, but never a problem for the experienced mountain hiker. As a hiking tour, the Hochthron lives up to its name, in keeping with the 'King Watzmann', in a few places the view is sensational. The friendliness of the Salzburgers rubs off as far as Berchtesgaden, the food in the Stöhrhaus is amazing, you feel at home 😃 I would also like to give a big compliment to the mountain rescue service! After an accident on the climbing wall, the helicopter was on site in no time at all, and that on Sunday, I was lucky enough to be able to watch the rescue operation with an experienced and efficient crew from about 200m away. Thank you for being there and for being there for us, stay brave! @Carmen&Andreas, it's great that you were there, thank you, I found the way 😁👍

Today again to the Stöhrhaus from Hintergern and back over the Scheibenkaser and the Almbachklamm. Wonderful round with a lot of views in ideal weather.

Hikers' car park 8 Hintergern past the Alpengasthof Dürrlehen to the Almbachklamm along this side (if you have a head for heights😉) then follow Komoot first ... because the signs are a bit irritating .... and then "long steep ascent 🥵" to Scheibenkaser " .... wonderful view .... panoramic view 🤩🤩🤩🤩 .... (not managed) ... and now on towards Stöhrhaus (you should be free from giddiness and surefooted) ... to the junction where it comes to the Stöhrhaus up goes ... (if you like, you can go up, which would be about 1.5 hours more ... each way) .... we are then down the path towards Maria Gern / Hintergern ...... until we are back on Parking lot 8 in Hintergern was ... to stop at the Alpengasthof Dürrlehen ... beers ... to enjoy Aperol. The tour is also possible with a dog .... with very "short-legged dogs" a dog carrier backpack "is appropriate".

Today we faced a long climb. We started at the Almbachklamm Gorge, where the water roared. We continued past the Theresienklause, a bridge, to the Roßboden. From there, the climb led through the forest to the Scheibenkaser Hut. There, we enjoyed drinks and a magnificent view. After a longer break, we continued up the Roßlandersteig for three hours to the Störhaus Hut. After checking in and eating cake, we made one last climb to the summit cross of the Berchtesgadener Hochthron. What a fantastic view we had today. Despite the effort, we are absolutely thrilled and can't get enough of this panoramic view. The hut itself is also great, and we're sure to have a lovely evening and a restful night.

It should be a mountain climb, the Berchtesgadener Hochthron, the Salzburg Hochthron is too steep/too strenuous, my planning shows about 10km up in 5 hours and about 10km down in 4 hours, whether I can do it🤷🏼‍♀️, but I want to. From the parking lot we start towards Ettenberg, there is a pilgrimage church there, first we go up endless steps into the forest, over root, gravel, forest paths and up steps again. We reach a meadow, the mountain in view (you can see the Scheibenkaser hut), houses, an inn and the church. It continues on a road, a short rest, then further up, high above the tree line, arrival Scheibekaser🛖, there is a cold drink, wonderful view🤩, etc. on the big and small Watzmann with children and company from a mountain oarlock. Now we go through a herd of cows that are on the path 🫣 and continue up the mountain on narrow paths, another short rest on a bench and a conversation with a hiker, further up the rocky path, a helicopter delivers to the Stöhrhütte, we soon reach it , but it's another 30 minutes to the summit cross. When we arrive at the summit cross we are alone, sit down and enjoy, there is the mountain oarlock again, along with friends 😁, it looks like we are on the highest mountain ☺️. Now😩back down, break in the Stöhrhaus, you can also spend the night there, further down, a look back shows what you have achieved💪🏻. We take a different route back and pass the Almbachklamm, which has little water but is still spectacular. Absolutely done, but overjoyed, we arrive at the parking lot. Thank you Franz for this intensive time 🙏🏻.
