Today we started our first tour in Freiburg. A discovery tour in the fog, unfortunately. The tour was still OK though. Lots of forest and quiet because of the weather. A stop at St. Ottilie was possible. We finished at the Martinsbräu brewery 🥩🍺😋.
Nice tour, some of the pictures were taken with my Olympus camera, so the positional assignment is missing. Nice tour in changeable weather. Very beautiful with great views all the time. I'm currently recording with Osmand, which I used before Komoot. It has some advantages for me when it comes to navigation.
Because it was so nice yesterday, we added more today: Schlossberg "reloaded" 2.0; Similar to yesterday, only completely different. ❄❄❄👌
Today we were in a very nice group with our hiking guide Beatrice on the Schloßberg on a discovery tour. The Schloßberg has a very eventful history, almost everything that happened in the early days of Freiburg can be traced there, it was signposted with some new paths, which were equipped with explanatory boards and in some places with "Guckis" that gave a view of the " then" view allow. Beatrice explained this very impressively with her knowledge of the eventful history of the Schloßberg. After a short break in St. Ottilien, which was of course also briefly explained with regard to its history, we went back to the Schwabentor, past vantage points, Mezschen Gardens and the Schloßbergbunker (entrance).
On our last day in Freiburg today with Marc on the Schlossberg and from there hiked to St. Ottilien. In total there were a few more km and altitude meters, somehow the GPS kept failing 🤷🏼♀️😂 ... nevertheless a beautiful hike, 90% on beautiful, varied trails 🤩🤘🏻 it was a really nice conclusion... 🌞🤩🤘🏻
This round completely surprised me/us - in a good way! The route runs mainly on beautiful paths, the rest on nice, natural paths. Well, first, various paths lead up to the Rothütte. Follow the "Kandelhöhenweg" and then the "Schokoladenweg" to the heights of St. Ottilien. The way back to the Schloßberg is via a very nice path ("Bodenseequerweg") to the "Roten Hütte", not far from the small cannon square. This absolutely great path runs about 50 mtr. parallel below the "pedestrian and biker highway" from Kanonenplatz to St. Ottilien. (The route of the "Bodenseequerweg" has probably been shifted from this "hiking highway" to the parallel path in recent years.) 🔝🙏 …. Haven't seen it yet and it's great to go!! 👍👌 The ascent to the Schloßbergturm over 270 steps is exhausting for us (unfortunately not fit/healthy). 💦💦 Nevertheless, after many years I wanted to climb the tower again and tackled the other 180 steps. The view from the Schloßbergturm over Freiburg and the surrounding area is second to none! 👌🔝 Yes, and then I was completely fascinated by the Schlossberg fortifications, which are well worth seeing. 😳 Believe it or not: I've never seen the facility before - it was totally fascinating new territory for me. (And that as a Breisgauer - please don't tell anyone....) 🙊 The many paths up here, as well as the descent to the starting point (small, good parking lot) are really nice to walk. 👍 Conclusion: Great hiking fun on the Kandelhöhenweg, Schokoladenweg, the (new) Bodenseequerweg and over the fortress. Also perfect for dogs. 🐶👍👍
Very nice, eventful round trip with great views. The route between Platz Fort Carree and St. Ottilien is a long climb. Very muddy during or after rain. Refreshments are possible at the St. Ottilien inn every day from 12 p.m. Climbing the observation tower is highly recommended. Comfortable and good hiking trails throughout the route. After or before the hike, a visit to the Freiburg Minster and the old and city center is highly recommended.
Finished work early today and walked from Wiehre over Schlossberg almost to Rosskopf. Saved the last few meters. Really great paths and hardly anything else going on.
