A fantastic hike, a truly premium hiking trail 🤩 Highly recommended, unique❗️

With really great weather and warm temperatures, we did the Höchsten mountain tour from the BodenseeLangGängen. Here is the description for the LandGang: *The Höchste mountain tour premium hiking trail is the longest and most demanding land walk. The highlight of the hike is the Höchste. This small peak is the highest elevation between the Hegau in the west and the Allgäu. From up here, on a clear day, you can see several hundred Alpine peaks.* We parked at the Saalach WP, from there we walked anti-clockwise, so that we were at the Höchsten for lunch around midday. Today on the road in Swabia 😄 We did the tour in the opposite direction. So you can see the lake on the descent. The tour is beautiful, although I have to say, a hiker who is connected to home, that the view from the Haldenhof near Sipplingen is much more spectacular for me

Today we headed toward Lake Constance. A fantastic tour in the Deggenhausertal valley. Gorgeous forest trails, beautiful, albeit somewhat cloudy, views, and perfect weather. It was a blast!

The Höchsten isn't making it easy for me! It's not the difficult climb, though, because at 842 meters, it's the highest point in the Linzgau region, but as a "mountain," it's rather diminutive. No, the reason for the difficulty is that every time I want to visit it, it regally shrouds itself in a blanket of clouds. And so, the much-praised view from the pavilion is, once again, something I can only imagine by studying the bronze reliefs depicting the Alps. I read the famous names of Swiss mountain peaks while gazing at a wall of clouds. Complaining won't help! Today I started my hike almost 300 meters lower down in the Deggenhausertal valley, specifically in Obersiggingen. According to the local tourism portal, the Deggenhausertal valley is "nestled between Gehrenberg, Heiligenberg, and Höchsten." It's characterized by numerous small villages and traversed by the Deggenhauser Aach stream, which I followed upstream towards Deggenhausen this morning. The path winds between forest and meadow, crosses the road in Deggenhausen, and then climbs through meadows and past isolated farmsteads to Höchsten. The roads bear names like "Auf dem Berg" (On the Mountain) or "Katzenmoos" (Cat's Moor). The trails are varied and offer a typical glimpse into the Linzgau landscape. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of the lake, life here seems considerably quieter and more leisurely—perhaps this impression is simply a product of my mood today. In any case, nature is still in its winter slumber; I can only spot a few snowdrops and the first, still curled-up, blossoms of coltsfoot. The forest floor is often softened, and patches of snow add whitish-gray flecks. The leaves no longer rustle underfoot—everything seems to be waiting—perhaps for spring. I stop for lunch at the mountain inn on the highest peak. The sun finally takes pity and tears small blue holes in the cloud cover. For me, it's back down to the valley. The reliable Bodensee-Landgänge hiking trail markers guide me. I continue through the typical landscape of the Lake Constance hinterland. Small villages lie along the way: Oberhomberg, Limpach, Azenweiler. A quietly pleasant hike, sometimes through forest, sometimes through meadows, always interspersed with views towards the lake. The weather lives up to the month's name, February—one minute the sun is shining, the next a cold wind pushes a hailstorm into the sky, and small ice pellets pelt down on us. The trail remains unfazed. In almost meditative calm, the path continues down into the valley, as if it were indifferent to whether one walks on it or not—today a meadow is simply a meadow, a tree is a tree, and hail or sunshine are simply different weather conditions. And so, I can conclude today's beautiful, peaceful walk with deep gratitude.

Good fitness is required, as the tour starts on the Höchsten at almost 863 m, then descends continuously to Obersiggingen at 464 m. From there, a few kilometers of terrain-neutral hiking until it goes steadily uphill to the destination, the highest. This premium-certified tour takes you to the "highest" point in the region at 820m. The hiking car park is easy to approach and free of charge. At the starting point of the hike, it goes back to the village. A small breakfast is recommended, because you will soon get to the "Bergstüble" and you should definitely stop here. The longest ascent is behind you here. Strengthened, it goes over the "summit" on a big round, benches and sky loungers offer the opportunity for small breaks along the way. At the end of the day there are a few restaurants in the valley, or you can drive 10 minutes to the "Berggasthof Höchsten" and enjoy the view of the summit from the beautiful terrace. There are some beautiful sections on the tour, with trail passages and meadow paths. Overall, I find the proportion of "well-developed paths" too high for a premium tour. The tour can definitely be recommended for a relaxing day of hiking with places to stop for refreshments.
