Gravel riding
This tour showcases not only the diversity of gravel biking but also the landscape between Lake Wörthersee, Lake Faaker See, and Villach. Starting at the Velden am Wörthersee train station, the route initially crosses the Drau River and heads south. Then the real gravel fun begins: you'll ride along gravel roads, forest trails, and winding side roads up to Baumgartner Höhe. Caution: At kilometer 17, you'll cross a stream – after heavy rain, the ford can become impassable due to high water levels, but an alternative route via Lake Aichwaldsee is available.
Passing the turquoise waters of Lake Faaker See and through the Dobrova forest, the loop leads you back to the Drau River on the outskirts of Villach. You'll follow the Drau Cycle Path for a short distance before the terrain becomes more challenging. At Sternberg, you'll be rewarded with stunning views across Carinthia, a beautiful church, and a cozy inn. From there, a smooth and flowing ride takes you back to the starting point in Velden.
