Ascent and descent of the high trail in temperatures over 30 degrees are not without...
The route had a lot of asphalt at the beginning, but was rewarded with many beautiful views.
Beautiful route with a wonderful view of Merano and the valley. The high-altitude trail is quite challenging in parts - hikers with average fitness should definitely wear good shoes and poles! The Tschigg guesthouse is a must-see for a rest and perhaps a delicious meal. The view is magnificent. The last quarter is mostly asphalt road and becomes very touristy on the Waalweg. But overall, this is bearable. Conclusion: a beautiful route that is strenuous but not overwhelming and guarantees a wonderful view. Recommended!
...and a delicious Kaiserschmarrn at the Gasthaus Tschigg.
The hike starts at the parking lot on Kirchweg in Marling, directly on the Adige River. Follow Kirchweg uphill. At the kindergarten, turn left onto trail no. 35 B to the Marlinger Walweg (Waldweg). Then follow Marlinger Höhenweg (High Trail), no. 33, and return via trail no. 33 to the Waalweg (Waalweg), and then via Kirchweg back to the parking lot. There are several places to stop for refreshments; we stopped at the Waalheim Inn. The trail requires surefootedness and sufficient fitness; there is a steady climb, especially at the beginning of the hike.
