The Forest trail to Furtalm via Hell's Waterfall is generally considered moderate. You'll encounter a mix of asphalt footpaths, narrow forest paths winding gently uphill, and easily accessible pasture paths. While many sections are family-friendly, some passages may require sure-footedness due to the natural forest terrain.
The trail is rich with natural beauty. A major highlight is the powerful Hölle Waterfall (Hell's Waterfall), with a new viewing platform offering close-up views. You'll also pass other spectacular cascades like the Trommelbachfall, Gansörbachfall, Mesnerbachfälle, and Koggrabenfall. Scenic viewpoints include the View of the Inferno Waterfall, View of the Furtalm Valley, and a general View of the Valley. The destination, Furtalm Alpine Hut, is also a charming highlight.

This allows you to enjoy the tranquility before the crowds arrive and gives you ample time to relax and savor the homemade specialties at the Furtalm Alpine Hut.

Unfortunately, the viewing platform for the "Hell" waterfall is temporarily closed. Otherwise a very nice tour with lots of water and great views of St. Anton with the church and the surrounding peaks of the Pflerschtal.
It doesn't look like there's much snow, but there's a good meter of it on the mountain pasture floor. It took us an hour to walk 500 meters there🥴 It's a HUGE advantage if the snowshoes are in the 🚙 trunk in Sterzing🙈 Arrival and departure again with the regional bus👍
It can be tackled with a minimum of fitness, nothing too challenging. Wonderful views of the mountains that dominate the Val di Fleres
