Day 4 of our multi-day tour….. After breakfast at the Tirser Alpl, we set off on a short but all the more beautiful stage towards Schlern. We were able to enjoy incredible views. The highlight was the detour to the Roterdspitze with its small summit cross. After a short stay, we continued towards the Schlernhaus, where we are spending the night tonight. We actually wanted to go to the Petz. But since there were gusts of wind 💨 of over 50 km/h, we decided to have bacon, eggs and fried potatoes in the hut 😅 ….. we have already been to the Petz 😜 Best wishes from Schlern and see you tomorrow….. Sandro and Claudi 🥾🏔️🎒🙋🏽♂️🙋🏻♀️
Day 3: Sciliar (Monte Petz) 2563 m Due to its characteristic shape, the Sciliar is considered a symbol of South Tyrol. Via the Rosszahnscharte, 2499 m, you reach the wide plateau of the Alpe di Siusi on the descent. Crossing on beautiful hiking trails over the Alpe di Siusi and ascent to the Schlernhaus, 2450 m. From here it is not far to the viewing summit of the Schlern, the Monte Petz, 2563 m. The descent is to the Schlernhaus and on a largely flat or slightly uphill path, with a picturesque view of the Seiser Alm, to the foot of the Roterdspitze. A narrow, exposed path leads in serpentines, once secured with a wire rope, downhill and back again to the Tierser Alplhütte.
For day 4 we went from Tierser Alpl to Schlernhaus. The path becomes increasingly narrower and more exposed and finally winds as a rocky alpine path up to the Sciliar plateau. In between you always have a beautiful view of the rose garden and the Tierser Alpl. When we arrived on the Sciliar plateau, the wind whistled so strongly that we missed the Roterdspitze. Besides, everything was covered in fog anyway. The panoramic path on the Sciliar plateau is excellent, even though the wind rarely let up. After a short break in the Schlernhaus, we took in Monte Pez in the fog and the Burgstall + Pulpit. We were really lucky with the last two, the fog cleared when we arrived 😊 Maybe it was the legendary Sciliar witches - the atmosphere would have been right 😉 Easily doable with a dog, but very rocky and stony ground on the climb. Some sharp edges. Rethink paw protection ✌️
You can see that you can't see anything... The weather was like this this morning... Gray soup... It doesn't matter, our goal today was the Sciliar House, a real castle in the mountains. In between there was only one hill to climb, followed by a side wind, which reminded us why we had packed warm clothes. After about 2 hours we had reached the Sciliar house. Backpack off and then up to the summit... Because the clouds had broken up for a few minutes.
