On the day of our onward journey to Lake Garda, we quickly visited another natural gem and took advantage of the free ride on the South Tyrolean bus lines. And it was a good one! What goes on here (including in the parking lots near the lake) is incredible. Again, you should definitely see it at least once, but once is enough, given the crowds. What would definitely be worth seeing, though, are the many hiking and via ferrata options with views of the lake from above, so never say never—it could happen that we do something like that someday...😊😇😉
Made a little detour on the way south and went for a walk in the most beautiful surroundings
Today we took it easy. Let the stiff muscles get a little on their positive side 😊. We drove to Lago Di Braies / Pragersee by car, but they know something about road works here. But the traffic jam was quickly forgotten after seeing all the natural beauty at the lake. A walk of about 5 km around the lake just succeeded. In short, we have another experience richer 👍🥾📷
After I was at this lake with my brother last year, I visited it again with Ines to walk around it. We didn't do that last year, we were here by bike and there were too many people. In the past few years it has often been advertised by influencers and so the flow of visitors has swelled. People have traveled from all over the world to see this lake. Although the walk around the lake is very easy to manage, some of the visitors are already overwhelmed at the first few meters!?! The spring months of April and May and the autumn months of September and October are probably the best times to visit this extraordinarily beautiful lake.
P2 costs 6€, P3 10€ and P4 35€. A detour to the Grünwaldalm is highly recommended.
At 7 a.m., some people are already there to take photos. But they're gone again quickly and around the lake, very few of them walk. Here you can enjoy the view of the lake.
You can really say that South Tyrol is beautiful in every season. The motto of travel is: slowing down, letting yourself go and being outside as much as possible. I want to practice a lot with Greta and also take a lot of time to think and reflect. Now is the best time for this in South Tyrol; I think it is rarely as quiet here as it is now. So I went to the classic tourist destinations and today (again) circled Lake Toblach and Lake Braies. The latter in particular is catastrophically overcrowded in summer. Now in the low season, on weekdays and when it was raining, it was quite quiet. Albeit not that spectacular. But that doesn't work with deceleration either. Note: The second part of the tour, on the eastern bank, is currently closed because it is very slippery. You should know what you're doing.
