This route was planned by komoot.
The Ombretola peak rises in the Marmolada group and is one of several "almost three thousand" of the Dolomites. In truth, the intention was to climb the Sasso Vernale, its opposite, with a beautiful slender shape. But, thanks to the rather uncertain weather and a very difficult last climb due to the incredible friability and the track full of debris, which leave no room for anything other than a high concentration and an undeniable intrinsic risk, we opted for the slightly lower and very sweet Ombretola. You park on the road that going up to the San Pellegrino pass leads to the ref. Stella Alpina (recommended because, albeit with a greater difference in height, the journey is much shorter). You go up to the splendid Fuciade (and very, very popular, at peak times). Then head up to the fork de le Cirele, comfortably overcoming a steep scree. Once in the saddle, follow the signs for the 612b towards the Falier refuge. With small ups and downs and a barely exposed stretch, you reach the Ombretola saddle and from here easily to the top. Return via the ascent route. Those who are familiar with the descents on scree can enjoy one of the most "usable" that there are around. From Pas de le Cirele you drop to the peak and in about 5 minutes you lose 340m in altitude. Spectacular. Overall, the climb is of medium difficulty, I would say suitable for many.
