After a bit of a break in the mountains, we set off with Sabrina from the parking lot of the cemetery in Ettal at around 9:30 a.m. today. The higher we got on the path, the higher the snow felt; effective too, of course 😁 Luckily, the track had already been set in advance from the previous days, which helped despite the occasional snowfall. At first we were moving quite quickly, but then we were slowed down by more and more frequent collapses in the snow. At the private hut on the way I first fished my gaiters out of my backpack. The things kept causing problems because of the poor fastening, but in the end the socks stayed dry. Sabrina washed hers directly in the shoes 😁 Since 50% of us didn't have a via ferrata set with us due to the famous man-woman conversation 😄, it wasn't difficult to decide that today we should only take the route to Laber. Given the conditions, it would have been questionable to climb the via ferrata anyway.
With @derKlein, we quickly climbed the Ettaler Mandl. Difficulty: A/B via ferrata or T3 + I (UIAA scale) From the hiking car park near the monastery in Ettal, we first followed a forest road, which then became a very beautiful hiking trail up to the Ettaler Mandl. The final climb, although fully secured with ropes, is very rocky and prone to falls. Therefore, you should definitely have the necessary experience. We were even lucky in terms of timing, so there wasn't too much activity at the summit. As we descended, it felt like an amusement park *lol* The final elevation gain was about 760 meters.
Oh no! Forgot to stop recording at the parking lot! Does anyone know if this can be changed afterwards? So far I haven't found a way. I don't want to delete the tour because I'm glad I climbed the Ettaler Manndl. Was a strenuous but great tour.
