Hiking

The hiking trail starts on the German bank of the Our, near Tëntesmillen.
This route is like a journey into the past. In the last century, numerous mills were clattering on the Our, in which, among other things, the oak bark of the tan hedges was ground. This oak bark, also called tan, contains the tannin tannin and was therefore an important raw material for regional tanneries. For the local farmers it was an extremely interesting and welcome source of income.
Cross the border into Luxembourg at the Dasburger Bridge.
A few kilometers later, the ascent to the Kasselslee vantage point is definitely worth it, as you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the Ourtal.
The path continues along the Our and its loops. Again and again there are great views over landscapes that are second to none.

Trail Reviews

FJG
July 15, 2024, Ourtal hinter Tintesmühle Runde von Kalborn

Pure nature. Very varied. A little anti-hum is good, the side arms of the OUR are good for mosquito larvae. On the Luxembourg side there are few benches for a break. Halfway through the tour there is a gas station with a shop. Start from the Tintesmühle, nice café and campsite.

While browsing through the lovely "Eislek Wanderlust" booklet from the Tourist Information in Ettelbrück, I chose this route for today. The QR code in the booklet leads to a Komoot collection. I had already copied the tour from @Sabine. See also your description! https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/926725/-nat-our-routen-im-eislek https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/1491835141 https://www.campingtintesmuehle.lu/aktivitaeten/ Unfortunately, the trail portion is rather limited, especially on the return journey on the German side. The special thing about this circular route: The Our River is always nearby, enhancing the route. There is simply no road in this section of the Our Valley, and therefore no road noise. The café near the Tintesmühle was open in the afternoon, but since I only half-heartedly and unsuccessfully searched for the waitress, I continued on without stopping. Since the weather was perfect today and the trail was relatively easy, the water I'd brought with me was more than sufficient. I then stopped for a drink in Dasburg at the "Daytona." There, to my delight, I met the couple from Australia with whom I had chatted a bit during our encounter on the GR5 a few hours earlier. Sometimes I meet people I like so much I could hug them on the spot. (Unfortunately, I also have the opposite.)

Similar to its sister trail - the Nat'Our Route 1 - this longish hike has two distinct parts. Whilst the German side isn't terribly interesting or demanding, the Luxembourg side is much more challenging... and simply gorgeous, with varied trails, perfect streams, lots of nature and a magnificent viewpoint.

Today we have chosen a round in the valley of the Our. From the Tintesmühle it went downstream mostly along the river. Great sections of the forest, idyllic meadows full of flowers and slate rocks accompany the path. Good to go especially as it is a little cooler today than in the last few days

The tour has been on my agenda for a long time, but has always been too long and too far away for me. Started early today in beautiful spring weather and drove to the border in Luxembourg. There is a small parking lot for hikers just before it. From there it always went along the valley. There were a few inclines because the path didn't run directly along the water. The splashing was very relaxing and we found a cozy place to have breakfast at an old mill. A family of Egyptian gooses watched us suspiciously. After Dasburg we went back on the other side of the Our. There were narrower paths and the weather gave us two decent showers. Nevertheless, a very nice hike very quiet and contemplative.

Started in Dasburg at the bridge. Difficult but very nice walk. Lots of climbing and descending sections. Walking along the water is very soothing. Well signposted. We made it a day!

In May 2023 I walked Nat'Our number 5. Time for the next one. Close by; from the campsite in Enscherange. I also know Dasburg: from a holiday when I was a child. Unfortunately no sun today, otherwise perfect walking weather. The Luxembourg side of the Our is mainly walking on the mountain slope, on the German side more on the banks. The German side is considerably easier. I explain it in a separate map with the photos. My advice to anyone who wants to do this: start in Doosberbréck (Dasburgerbrück) and do the Luxembourg side first. This is tough and dangerous at the beginning. After that it only gets easier. By the time you are tired, you can easily walk back through Germany. The paths were sometimes difficult to see because of the many leaves, the stones underneath too. Funny: on the German side on every Nat'Our sign there is an arrow showing how to go, in Luxembourg hardly any. Signage is great! Also today many mushrooms. If you didn't know there were two countries, you wouldn't see it.
