Puuh, that was exhausting beautiful. 🤩 Magnificent panoramic views, lovely brook valleys, extensive meadow landscapes, light-flooded beech forests and historic buildings are the highlights of the Wäller Tour Iserbachschleife. The starting point of the "Wäller Tour Iserbachschleife" is in Anhausen, parking lot Auf dem Löh. From there it went past Meinborn with a great view into the Steinebachtal. On an enchanted path along the babbling brook, the path leads to the church ruins of Hausenborn and down into the Saynbachtal to Isenburg The best hops were grown here in the 18th century.🍺🍺 Then it was quite steep again including a nice detour to the ruins of Isenburg Castle. The "Waterway" takes you to the Iserbachtal and crosses the Iserbach, which gives the hiking trail its name. Large and small fish ponds follow, it flows and gurgles and you can feel the abundance of water in this wonderful spot. 😎 The path continues to Rüscheid. Passing the sky pond, it goes over lush meadows to a small viewing platform. If visibility is good, you can see the Großer Feldberg im Taunus, 70 km away. The path leads back to Anhausen through a mysterious forest. 🙂🙃🙂
https://www.westerwald.info/d/waeller-tour-iserbachschleife/ Today, we completed the Wäller Tour - Iserbach Loop in the Ister Valley in perfect weather. For us, it was a truly beautiful loop with several highlights and highly recommended. Start at the signposted hiking car park or there are several parking spaces around the corner at the cemetery. Through beautiful, cool forest sections to the Hausenborn church ruins. First, catch your breath from the ascent, past the Holy Sepulchre to the Isenburg ruins. From here, it gets fun. The elevation gain is very steep. From the church ruins to the Isenburg, it feels like you cross an entire valley in a very short time. First, you descend the entire mountain and then climb straight back up to the hill to the Isartalblick. A fantastic vantage point overlooking the entire valley bend and a direct view of the Isenburg (cover photo). But that's not all. We continue uphill to the Talhauser Mill. There we relaxed in the sun and enjoyed cold drinks. Drinking is important in the heat 😉 Now we continue up to the viewing platform near Rüscheid, and from there, relaxation begins. Today's 1,000 meters of elevation gain were easy to manage, and we enjoyed the wonderful sunshine. In some places in the open fields, it's naturally scorching hot, but in the forest sections, the cooling silence is a blessing. A truly fantastic day with fantastic new highlights and wonderful trails. We highly recommend it – we might do the tour in reverse next time, as the trails are a bit weaker at the end of the tour. The beginning is a dream Happy holidays to everyone, a happy May 1st, and a nice weekend 🙋🏻♂️ Westerwald Collection: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/2148991/-o-du-schoener-westerwald Castles, Fortresses, and Ruins Collection: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1561803/-schloesser-burgen-und-ruinen
The Iserbach loop is one of the few premium circular hiking trails in the greater Neuwied area. There is also the option of dividing the round into two smaller loops ... If someone asked me what comes first to the Iserbach loop, my answer would be: This is the circular hike that feels like it's only going uphill ... This is of course not really correct, but the climbs stretch over several kilometers, while the downhill sections are shorter and steeper - at least if you follow the recommended direction ... A small parking lot in Anhausen is given as the starting point. However, I would start with another hike of the total loop or the south loop in Iserburg. Then you have the long ascent to Thalhäuser Mühle or just before Rüscheid right at the beginning and on the other hand, the Hausenborn monastery ruins and Iserburg are the two most worth seeing highlights at the end of the hike. In Iserburg there is a parking lot below the church, which is suitable as a starting point - however, the number of free spaces is very manageable, as the parking lot is also used by residents. That is probably also the reason why the "official" starting point is in Anhausen ... I liked the Südschleife better because it is a bit more varied and includes the ruins of the Hausenborn monastery and the town of Iserburg. The Nordschleife - although there can really only be one, and that is in the Eifel - in the valley of the Iserbach, Siehrsbach and Thalhauser Bach brooks, there are always beautiful sections as well as some beautiful views, but it lacks that certain something ... . Conclusion: The Nordschleife is well worth seeing and if you have a longer journey, you should tackle the entire route. The Südschleife is definitely recommended ... All information about the Iserbachschleife is available at: https://www.wiedtal.de/wandern/iserbachschleife.html Südschleife (11.9 km): https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/wanderung/westerwald/iserbachschleife-suedschleife/25186487/ Nordschleife (15.4 km): https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/wanderung/westerwald/iserbachschleife-nordschleife/25187984/
The great thing about this excellently marked "Iserbachschleife" route is that the tour organizers have really given them some thought. In addition to the sights, such as the church ruins in the middle of the forest and the half overgrown Isenburg and beautiful views of it later, there are always surprises on the route. I often thought: "Oh dear, I see a long tarred path ahead of me" but then the route suddenly turns a few meters further onto a triple path that leads winding straight through a rustic forest ... or directly over a grassy border path between two fields or gardens. The mixture was so varied that I never got bored of the 21 km. Compliment!
Hello fellow hikers Today's itinerary included a Wäller tour. For those who don't know, these are various hikes in the Westerwald. I've done a few before, but that was before my Komoot days. This hike had been on my list for a while, so I decided to do it today. Since I'm a member of the species Homo "Early Birdus" and like to set off at sunrise, I had to get up at 3 a.m. I still had about an hour's drive. But it was worth it. A very beautiful and varied hike that gets 5 stars plus from me. If you don't want to hike that much, you can split the hike. See picture 25 Best wishes 🍀👍😎🍺
Today in brief: The first third was super beautiful: trails, forest, stream, pilgrimage site, Isenburg Castle. The second third was dirt roads through the stream valley, also nice in itself, but dragged on. The last third was across fields, probably to show off the view from up there, but it didn't quite grab my attention. I liked the first third, but not the last.
While looking for our Easter hike, which is as close as possible to Kaarst and Sulzbach, Volker came across this Wällertour. At first I thought "You already know that one, I want to see something new". But then I thought about it. And that was a good thing! I started from Anhausen twice and that was about 5 years ago. Today we moved the start there because of the final stop at the Thalhauser Mühle (highly recommended!!). We also walked the tour in the opposite direction to the first two times. Of course memories came back. But I didn't remember the hiking route being so varied. It was a wonderful Easter Sunday with Bettina and Volker. Thank you very much 👏 And to everyone else I can only recommend: go and see for yourself how you like the route.
The start and finish is the Auf der Löh car park in Anhausen. At just under 22 km, the Iserbach loop is quite strenuous, but you could take a shortcut at the Thalhauser Mühle. Beautiful forest paths and trails, meadow paths with great views - this and much more make this tour one of my favorite hikes. Even though the weather wasn't great this time, it was still beautiful. With sunshine and blue skies, it would have been perfect.
