To avoid the heavy traffic, I recommend climbing over the Mendel Pass.
I couldn't keep my feet still today and sat down on the 🚴 when my cold was dying down. The temperatures beyond 30 degrees didn't really suit me 🥵. The tour over the Appiano Wine Route to warm up and then over the Mendel Pass, Fondo to the Gampen Pass was definitely worth the toil 😅 The descent from the Gampenpass to Lana was a nice reward at the end😎
1800 meters of altitude from the edge of the bed calculated over the first 30 km.
Beautiful tour and a short gravel section at the end💪
Finally sunny today 🌞 So let's go cycling. But it's fresh and windy up there 🥶 Age-appropriate passes, the nasty South Tyrolean ramps were avoided... but hey anyway 🥴
From the Pensionerskaff Kaltern up to the Mendel Pass it is on the one hand crowned with wonderful views of the Dolomites, Lake Kaltern and the like, but the sheer mass of mostly brainless moped drivers makes the experience null and void. Noise, stench and tight maneuvers make the worst wishes come up for the unscrupulous pack - few exceptions here! The descent from the Gampenpass is more relaxed and a view of Merano, Bozen and the mountains. Meran somehow a jewel ..... 🤔 .... you should work there .... The Merano Kaltern cycle path is also a jewel in terms of layout, completeness and view.
First road bike 🚴 ♂️ tour in South Tyrol ⛰ with a great panorama from Penegal ☀️
Day 2 of 3 Heavy 2nd round today, first the Gampenpass 🇮🇹 and then the Mendelpass 🇮🇹, also past Lake Caldaro and Bozen cut. Because Bozen was left out due to time constraints, the 1st pass was the purest heat battle at 30 degrees and more 🥵 over 24.5 km at about 8-9% and almost 1300 HM Mendelpass was a mega cycle path, finest asphalt 😍, thus 2 more Alpine passes ✅, the 2nd descent 20 km down was awesome 😍 almost fire free, an extreme requirement for the material
