Today we had breakfast away from the hustle and bustle of the main towns of Leura or Katoomba. After very good coffee and muesli in the dbl Ristretto in Springwood, we went in a 4WD on a dirt road near Leura. The hike was not a circular tour, but rather an outward and return trip on a high plateau typical of the area with a view of Blackheath and southwards into long gorges. Great views, but it gets really spectacular below the actual lookout. There is a rocky outcrop that drops straight down 200-300m. Not for people with a fear of heights. And not for a windy day. Great hike with a cool finish in the pub in Springwood, as Leura is completely overrun by busloads of tourists.
