Trail Reviews

Lauren & Bailey 🐕🐾
July 24, 2025, 🇺🇸 Mountain Plains | Spearfish Canyon Nature Area Trail

Our second stop today was the beautiful Spearfish Canyon Nature Area. This nature reserve is known for its waterfalls, magnificent wildflowers, steep cliffs, and rich biodiversity. Everywhere you look, you see nature at its most beautiful. A circular hike always has something special, but in America, they clearly love trails that you have to walk back and forth. A true loop trail isn't always easy to find. Still, we didn't let that stop us. Upon arrival, we were immediately treated to a small waterfall. The atmosphere was immediately good. However, the trail ran alongside the road for a while, so you could hear the occasional car. Fortunately, that didn't detract from the experience. At the end of the trail, an impressive waterfall awaited. What made this spot extra special was that you could enjoy the view from both below and above. The second large waterfall in this area, however, was a bit disappointing. Due to the dense vegetation, there wasn't much of it visible. On the way back, I couldn't contain my laughter. Tommy kept repeating that seven kilometers is way too far. Way too far. After the holidays, he shouted, I definitely won't be walking for a month...
