Hiking

The Forstsee loop is a relaxing hike through a particularly tranquil natural setting. The route is well-suited for you if you are looking for a short break in the forest – without any major elevation gain, but with a lot of nature. The idyllic lake, hidden sections of forest and quiet places to pause make the loop pleasantly entertaining.

On the paths along the shore, you will experience the lake from new perspectives time and again. A detour to the hidden Josefikapelle on the south side of the lake is particularly worthwhile. The small chapel is located in a quiet spot in the forest and gives the loop a quiet, almost mystical moment. On warm days, several bathing spots offer the possibility for a refreshing dip.

The starting point is the car park at the Forstsee with a panoramic board. There are no restaurants directly on the way, so take enough water and a small picnic with you. Especially in the summer months, the lake is a popular bathing spot – so plan some time for a break by the water.

April 20, 2025,OSTER-WANDERUNG - FORSTSEE ... Rundwanderung um den idyllischen Forstsee
To conclude my Easter hiking trilogy, I walked counterclockwise around the Forstsee lake, located above Lake Wörthersee.

There were several signposted trail options for the circuit. I chose the one that always stays close to the lakeshore.

From the starting point, a wide path led west, which later narrowed and led over roots. The roots only ended shortly before the …

Tour description

👣🐾🐾👣Comfortable hike around the Forstsee (601 m) in the Gurktal Alps, Carinthia.

From the “Forstsee” car park it is only a few steps to the lake. In a wonderfully quiet natural setting, we circled the largely natural lake with our Flockerl. In summer, dogs are even allowed to swim here with their people - we'll be back....!
