Hiking
This circular hike on the southern Biggesee is ideal for a relaxing day of hiking with the family. The route is varied and offers beautiful views of the water. Individual climbs provide some exercise, but are easy to manage - even with children who enjoy being outdoors.
Along the way, highlights such as the view of the village of Sondern, quiet natural sections and exciting perspectives of the lake await you. For children, the proximity to the water, small paths and the changing environment ensure variety. On warm days, there is even the possibility of a refreshing break by the water.
The starting point is easily accessible by train (Olpe-Sondern train station). Parking is also available. There are restaurants and rest areas along the route or near the lake. Nevertheless, take enough drinks and small snacks with you - especially if you are traveling with children. Swimwear is very worthwhile if the weather cooperates.

Today the tour took us around from Sondern on and above the Biggesee. Always nice at Biggesee 🙂
A5 circular route around the southern part of Lake Bigge 01/30/2022 🌥🌬⚓️ With the identifier A5, the Sauerland Mountain Club (SGV) has created a beautiful circular hike on the Biggesee in the Sauerland. You start in Sondern - the only sea station in North Rhine-Westphalia. And the Olper district not only has a train station to offer, there is also a separate pier for the excursion boat MS Bigge in Sondern. A trip to Lake Bigge. After a 90-minute drive, we took another short walk.
In wonderful hiking weather we set off from Sondern to go on a nice hike around the Biggesee. The route requires a certain level of fitness, as small inclines also have to be climbed. But you will be rewarded with a lot of impressions and a wonderful panorama on and around the Biggesee. Can only be recommended.
In the best weather with wonderful inspirations! The tour is very varied, from boring alpine paths to adventurous forest paths! And always a breathtaking view of the Bigge!
Jacket and rain jacket with you in your backpack: But the entire lap in a T-shirt. Class 👍
A visit to the Biggesee is a must on a short trip to the Sauerland. There is plenty of free parking to be found around the lake. Our starting point was at the Kessehammer car park. Unfortunately, many trees were felled in the forest. This sometimes makes it difficult to navigate. The swimming area was open and was also free. There was a lot going on here. Don't forget to bring your bathing suit. There is a large free car park at the entrance to the town. Nice place and pier for a Biggerundfahrt. On the hike you can stop off in between or at the end.
