On top of the Krippenstein you have a phenomenal view of the Dachstein massif, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Thanks to the Dachstein cable car, you can set the 1,600 vertical meters back from Obertraun at lightning speed and enjoy the view up here in peace and quiet.
From the mountain station it is only a short distance to the Krippenstein, where you will find the panorama platform of the Weltterbespirale. A little further along the path you come to the 5Fingers viewing platform with the World Heritage view of Lake Hallstatt. But this platform is not for the faint-hearted and only for giddiness-free hikers: Like an outstretched hand the 5Fingers protrude over the abyss and from the fingertips you have a breathtaking panoramic view of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
If you've seen enough of the panorama, it's back to the cable car and down to Obertraun. Of course, if you like, you can also join the circular hike to Heilbronner Kreuz.
