Beautiful tour to the most idyllic lake in Austria. The Almsee is very quiet in the highest part of the Almtal.

Topographically not too difficult tour to the beautiful Almsee. Alternatively, you can go back to the regional train.

The starting point of the tour is easily accessible both by bike via the Traun cycle path as well as by public transport and by car. Parking is sufficiently available at the starting point of this tour.

Welser Stadtplatz

Highlight • Historical Site

In its architectural unity, the town square is one of the most beautiful street squares in Austria, whose houses mostly have attractive Baroque facades from the 17th and 18th centuries. The houses themselves, however, are mostly older, which is particularly evident in the backyards, which date back to the Gothic and Renaissance periods.

Since the Middle Ages, the town square has been used to hold markets where mainly livestock and agricultural products were traded. Even today, weekly, Advent and antique markets are held here.

FischAlm - Steckerlfische

Highlight • Restaurant

Directly on the "Romantic Road" between Grünau and the Almsee lies the Fischbraterei, where you can take a break and strengthen yourself with tasty fish dishes from freshly caught fish. The water of the Alm enjoys a very high quality, which is why the waters are very much used for fish farming. Above all, there are rainbow trout, brown trout and grayling here. In Grünau, if you have a license, you can also fish yourself.

Almsee

Highlight • Lake

The area around this picturesque lake is not in vain under nature protection. Here live many rare species and the vegetation on and in the lake is also exceptional. The alpine lake, which characterizes the Almtal and flows into the Traun after 48 kilometers, rises from the Almsee.

This traditional inn is located on the outskirts of Wels. Located directly on the old Wels-Grünau railway bridge, you can relax here after your racing bike ride and strengthen yourself with regional, traditional inn cuisine. A very nice tour in the most wonderful weather - we ate a delicious strudel; we devoured super tasty fish on a stick and then enjoyed an excellent Bubikopf at Urbann in Wels 😋
All calories balanced 😂
