A wonderful autumn hike for three of us. We started in the fog. That always gives nature something mystical. At some point the sun came out and made the colorful beech forest shine. It was really fun again.
There are always 5 kilometers more recorded, the route is given as 16 kilometers and that fits too.
Under a bright 12 degrees Celsius and a cloudless sky, we explored the Climate Experience Route 4 around Hardehausen today. It was already quite warm in the sun, while along the way we gained fascinating insights into the interplay between climate and nature – a theme that the route brings vividly to life at various stations. The hike led us through the historically rich landscape surrounding the former Hardehausen Monastery, now known as an educational center for its important bison enclosure. A prominent landmark was Roters Oak, from where we followed the road for a short distance before returning to the tranquility of the forest. Our tour culminated perfectly at the Hammerhof Forest Information Center. As the gateway to the bison enclosure, it offered us not only information about the forest habitat but also a well-deserved coffee to round off a thoroughly enjoyable day.
The Hammerhof is the start and finish point for the 17 km long circular route with 240 meters of altitude. The tree nature trail leads along the Schwarzbach. The meadow enclosure is on the right. The cattle lay lazily in the pasture this morning and were not impressed. We continue to the meadow tower. From up here you have a beautiful panoramic view. The architecture is interesting because the ascent and descent are laid out in the form of a double helix and thus the ascent and descent are separated. Continuing through the Schwarzbachtal, we listen to information on climate, weather and weather from the app (see link below). We continue towards Blankenrode after 5 km there is a beautiful hiking hut that invites you to take a break. On the way to Rothers oak, the hiking trail leads 20m next to the road on the left at the edge of the forest. It then goes a bit on the county road, but that doesn't bother us now in November because hardly anyone is on the way. It’s definitely different in summer. On the left it goes up into the beech forest towards Nadel und Felsenmeer. It doesn't go all the way up to Nadel and the forest path is one level lower than the Eggeweg. We pass various springs and a small step over the ditch points to the branch to the sacrificial stone. There you have a good view of the sea of rocks, but we saved that today. Then it's right down towards Hardehausen. The old Cistercian monastery is 900 years old and offers the opportunity to rest on one of the benches that are everywhere here. The pilgrim path leads back to the bison enclosure and the Hammerhof. It's open and invites you to stop.
A beautiful hike at Hammerhof and the associated zoo with bison and wild boar enclosures. A very varied circular hike of 16 km. The positive thing is that you get close to the animals and can take really great photos, but unlike in some wildlife parks you also have to keep a very long distance. The negative thing is that the route has two sections, each of which runs for about 500 meters on country roads; a different route would be desirable here...;-)
Today I drove with @HerSi near Scherfede and went for a hike in the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest Nature Park around the Hardehausen bison enclosure in the Hammerbach valley.
Today, around midday, I drove with @Wanderfreund to the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest, to the Hardehausen bison enclosure near Scherfede. From the Hammerhof hiking car park, we passed the visitor center and reached the tree-based nature trail. We crossed beautiful covered bridges along the bison enclosure to the Korintenteich pond. Continuing along many paved forest roads and gravel paths, we reached the Eggeweg trail. A beautiful winding path through tall ferns and past raspberry bushes. Caution should be exercised on a steep slope. Again, we crossed gravel and paved paths and continued along the K23 for a while. After the forest lake, we returned to the bison enclosure, which we could already see in the distance. Again, crossing wooden bridges, we reached the bison stables and got a better look at the animals. Continuing past the enclosure fence and the alder pulpit, we returned to the visitor center and reached our destination, the Hammerhof hiking car park. The tour is initially interesting with its many twists and turns. The trail winds its way through tarmac and gravel roads and, apart from the Eggeweg trail, offers no further highlights. It only becomes more interesting again at the bison enclosures. The tour should be shortened somewhat to make it a good hike. For me, it was okay so far, and there was plenty to see. Yours, HerSi
