Today we walked the castle rock path again 🤩 you can still clearly see the traces of the storm, but the paths have now been cleared again 👍🏻☺️ Two-thirds of the way there was an uneasy feeling in the air 😁opposite the Heuberg military training area, the entire hike was accompanied by the sounds of gunfire and tank noises today. My husband was able to assign everything to which weapon, but it made it really clear to me what was going on in the world 🥹 not just Ukraine 🇺🇦 now also Israel 🇮🇱..... as I said, there was unrest in the air, but it was still beautiful how the forest is becoming more and more autumnal, but the drought is severe, finding mushrooms is out of the question 😂 🤷♀️☺️🙋♀️🙋🏼
On Sunday I did a wintry, snowy tour of the Alb on the Schlossfelsenpfad. The start was at the Waldheim Albstadt parking lot. The well-signposted tour first runs through juniper heaths and forest sections to the Fohlenhof, where, in addition to a refreshment stop, many young calves and lambs can be seen at this time of year. Soon after, the Albtrauf is reached at the Mühlenfels and the path follows it past other rocks to the lookout tower on the Schlossfelsen, which gives it its name, with a beautiful view of the surrounding valley towns. A few meters further on, the starting point of this varied circuit is reached again. Paths with a beautiful path and meadow portion. Easy to walk, doable even in light snow. Snow at most ankle deep today. Weather, 0°C, initially light wind, which could sometimes be quite fresh on the open spaces. With one short exception, the sky was completely overcast and light snowfall most of the time. Right winter round just ^ ^
A very beautiful and varied eaves with many views over Albstadt-Ebingen. However, I would like to advise against going around the castle rock. At some point the path gets lost and you have to fight your way back over steep scree (Fig. 5). So please don't copy!
Tour through beautiful juniper heaths, beautiful forests and a few beautiful views of Albstadt (Ebingen). During the round you are a certain distance on the "Traufgang-Wachholderhöhe" and the "Traufgängerle-Hexenküche". At the end of the tour, the Waldheim offers a nice beer garden for a stop. All in all, a great experience in beautiful hiking weather.
The car park at the Waldheim is a good starting point for today's hike. Varied, typical Albtrauf tour on well-marked paths, through the forest, across open spaces and over the typical juniper heaths with their colorful, lean grassland meadows that are currently in beautiful bloom. The last third of the tour is dominated by sparse beech forest, wonderful views from the steeply sloping ridge into the valley towards Ebingen. Fascinating rock formations and the huge open cave (witch's kitchen) really inspire us. There are plenty of rest areas with tables and benches along the entire hike, but also sky loungers and benches in secluded spots. Conclusion: a ridge walk tour at its finest, leaves nothing to be desired!
Unfortunately, I can only recommend this walk to a limited extent. 😳 The first 10 kilometers are easy hiking highways through forest and meadows. Maybe I'm spoiled, but that was a bit bland. The last 5 kilometers on the Albtrauf were nice to walk and there were viewpoints. 😊 The fact that it basically starts and ends in the beer garden also speaks for the tour. 🍻 But I won't run it again. The beginning is too boring for that. 🤣
I spontaneously decided to hike on the Alb, as the weather was good. The Traufgang Schlossfelsenpfad is a real premium hiking trail! Very relaxed, with few steep inclines and often on meadows and hiking trails. A really enjoyable hike on this trail with nature awakening... (pictures). OUR LAND WITH ITS SPLENDOR... At half-time there was a Munich Hell from old stock. But not yet finished. At the end there was another challenging climb up the tower, with 100 steps if I counted correctly. Despite the good weather, it felt like there were relatively few hikers out and about. It was all the livelier in the beer garden at the Waldheim. My starting and finishing point. There and back about 30 km.
Castle rock path made from the eaves. Started early and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The starting point was the special stage at Stählernes Männle. From there we went on the tour towards Fohlenweide. If you start here, you have all the beautiful viewpoints in the long middle section. At the castle rock I took the path via the witch's kitchen. Here you can choose between the eaves walk over the castle rock or the eaves walkway witch's kitchen. For the view, the path over the castle rock with the castle rock tower is recommended. For a landscape with rocks and caves, the Traufgängerle over the witch's kitchen. Overall an RTT 🌟 (really great tour with a star). Great signposted paths Well maintained paths Great landscape Great viewing points The weather 🌞 was great too
