View of Lake St. Nora and the Algonquin Highlands

Between the Vista and New Vista Trails, you get spectacular panoramic views of Lake St. Nora below and the forest rolling out across the Algonquin Highlands. It’s a rewarding place to pause, catch your breath, and take in the view before diving back into the woods.

Saint Nora Lake (campsite)

Highlight • Camping

This campsite is right on the shore of St. Nora Lake. It's a beautiful place to pause for a swim or just watch the water. It's also a great overnight base for hiking and canoeing the area. There are a couple of known canoe routes, with portages adding a proper backcountry twist.

All campsites in the area are pretty remote and rustic, with a stone fire pit and a wooden toilet box. Remember to book a permit if you stay overnight: algonquinhighlands.ca/explore-play/reserve-a-backcountry-campsite

St. Nora Lake offers a calm, reflective mood, with forest along the shore and quiet water close beside the path. Its name carries a fun twist: it was originally called “Senora’s Lake" by old lumbering companies, but the name evolved through mispronunciation into "Saint Nora."
