Hiking
Up to the Hörnle and the fabulous Bertaburg - the “Berta-Hörnle-Tour” is not called its name by chance. On it, of course, you can expect wonderful views of the foothills of the Swabian Alb, fantastic landscapes and one or the other barbecue hut. A couple of sausages are therefore definitely allowed to wander into the backpack. You deserved it, given the meters in altitude ahead of you.
You set off at the Pappelweg hiking car park in Bad Boll and follow the Albtraufgänger hiking trail for a while. At the temple you can take a little rest in the shade and enjoy the view of the Drei Kaiserberge. Now it goes up to the Hörnle, where a cozy little refuge with a fantastic panorama tempts you to take a break for more minutes.
Since there are still a few kilometers ahead of you, the first step is to hike properly. You wind your way up to the Kornberg and after a good half of the way you reach the hut of the same name. This is an excellent place to stop for a break on the weekend. If you have strengthened yourself, your next destination is the Bertaburg, which was named after the aunt Friedrich I. Barbarossas. The last part of the lion path leads you to the Boller Heide and back to Bad Boll.

Actually, the Stäffele tour part 2 was on the program for today. But after the local transport in Stuttgart went on strike, we rescheduled at short notice, drove to Bad Boll and did this tour. However, this was a challenge because the paths were sometimes very muddy. In the end, we were happy that we all reached the destination unscathed and were able to roughly clean our shoes at the shoe washing facility. The lower valley in particular is very wet and muddy.
Beautiful hike to the Kornberghütte. Walking time: 4:18.
It's definitely easy to walk in the other direction and you'll pass the Schützenhaus at the end to stop off. That would also fit.
In really nasty weather we made a great tour. Thanks for that Markus
We start the tour at the Pappelweg hiking car park. Right at the beginning there is a nature adventure trail parallel to the road. We pass an imposing, ancient tree that makes a good impression. For a short stretch it continues on asphalt again, then there is a large crossroads, in front of us is the large Badwäldle playground with a barbecue area. Here it goes for a few meters to the left into the forest, at the post with the dwarf the hiking trail branches off onto a narrow forest path. Here we already get to know a rather muddy hiking trail, a highlight for children and those who have stayed (it is not suitable in all weather conditions. We follow the well-signposted route to a bridge on the muddy path. Here we leave the valley floor and cross it with the bridge you have just passed under and now follow a beautiful forest path, cross a road above Bad Boll and continue hiking, mostly steadily ascending to the Boller Heide and further up, now very steeply on the ridge path to Bertaburg, from which, however, only two ditches from testify to an existence. After a rest in the refuge near the Bertaburg, we continue, first on the Albtrauf and then across meadows and a small forest up to the Kornberghütte and then to the Kornberg, our highest point of our tour. From now on we climb steadily, partly very steep, down again First we cross a meadow landscape and then only through the forest. The beautiful paths gave way to more and more wide forest roads. At the end of a tour like this, it bothers me less. We continue hiking to the Hörnle. From there we continue down past the temple to our starting point.
The Löwenpfad near Bad Boll: as expected, well signposted, well-kept paths and very appealing. The sensory path, with which the hike starts and ends, is a separate highlight for active children: playground, hammock, tree trunk bridges, watercourse, deliberately designed mud path (was also heavily visited by a large number of happy children). Overall, the hike was entertaining and scored points with a variety of views and resting places. A lot of effort was obviously made here to create a great circular hike.
