This route was planned by komoot.
An absolutely wonderful tour for young and old. We started at the Krün hiking car park and got some coffee at the Eichhorn bakery to warm up (we had been ice bathing beforehand). Then we started the actual tour. Lovingly designed nature quiz stations for the trees and animals in the forest, even with sounds that come from the forest. We were really happy about it, even though we are closer to retirement than childhood. The route was also nice to walk. On the Isar we were able to admire the wonderful turquoise and the last ice cream. Highly recommended.
Very nice tour for families with children, there is always something to discover there are 25 different signs along the way with many stations to join in or to enjoy a beautiful view. The children can often play in the Isar. Small tip you can also walk the way over the adventure playground (raftsman's playground) a really cool place with a small snack.
The Walchensee power plant has been generating electricity for 100 years, also with water from the Isar. But where is the water "stolen" from the Isar? The Isar nature adventure trail passes the Isar reservoir near Krün, where Isar water is channeled into the Obernach canal to Walchensee. We start at a hiking car park near the banks of the Isar and cross the bridge to the other side of the river. The path leads into the forest past many information boards about the regional flora and fauna. You cross the Isar at the Isar reservoir and the tributary. Here the path passes the dam with its fish ladder. The dam diverts Isar water into the Obernach canal and into Walchensee, which is the water reservoir for the power plant. A minimum amount of water is released into the Isar. The amount of water is so low in the dry seasons that a new, interesting river landscape with many gravel banks is formed.
Very beautiful circular walk along the Isar floodplains (Isar Nature Trail).
Isar nature adventure path Short but interesting hikes along and over the Isar
When the weather is good, it is a lovely excursion, especially with children. However, it is not 100% suitable with a stroller (maybe with a sports stroller). There is plenty of shade for hot summer days and numerous viewpoints for nature lovers.
A simple tour on beautiful paths. The views of the Alps are fantastic and the Isar anyway. Again and again there are nice hands-on stations for children. There is also a nice playground in Krün, which we skipped due to the weather. The way was easy to do with our bike trailer.
When we finally arrived on our hiking holiday, we of course unpacked everything and went shopping. But at around 4 p.m. we finally got the urge and set out on a 7 km loop before the France game at the European Championships at 9 p.m. The loop was a dream. When we arrived at the car park, the tour went along the Isar nature adventure trail. Along the entire route, various information boards tell you about the nature, animals and the environment around the Isar. Very interesting. Of course, it's always nice to walk along the water, but it's really great on the Isar. The water is a turquoise blue color and you can always see the Karwendel foothills and the Zugspitze in the background. Then we came across several cows in the middle of the path. This is a hiking holiday at its best. Back in our holiday apartment, we took a shower and then leisurely watched the France game.
