Procedure for the section's September excursion in Montafon. Here: From St. Gallenkirch, take the Garfreschabahn cable car up and through Garfrescha to the Gantakopf—also called Gantekopf, 1958 m high. From the summit, there are good views of Gaschurn and Partenen. Surefootedness and good tread are required for the ascent. T1 - T2. Shortly below the "Nova Stoba" refreshment stop, we turn right and descend to Alpe Nova at 1736 m. We cannot use this for a (planned) refreshment stop in four weeks, as it closes on September 5th this year. After a short break, we continue our descent, avoiding the road as much as possible. For a refreshment stop (mid-September), we recommend: a) Restaurant Garfrescha b) BrunellaWirt / new: "VermalaWirt"!
The tour starts off very fun with the old Gafrescha chairlift. Leaving the town quickly behind us, a fairly steep but very beautiful path leads up to the Gantakopf. On the way, you may come across wimpy hikers trekking down from Nova Stoba 😉 Behind the Gantakopf, leave the Alpe Nova Stoba on the left and keep to the right until you reach the Alpe Nova. This short section is so-so. You can stop there for a short break, but you should save yourself a bit of hunger, but more on that later 😊 From the Alpe Nova, a picturesque hiking trail leads slightly downhill along a stream. And then comes the small Ziegen Alpe (Rinder Alpe Nova). And here you can satisfy your remaining hunger in a brilliant way. Tasty little things, including and especially from goats, delicious cakes and fresh cow and goat milk. A delight! We were lucky, 3 young people played accordions and guitars - almost kitschy and beautiful. Now back to the Gafrescha lift and a beautiful day ends
Oktoberfest on Nova Stoba Very promising alpine round to the Verwall, the Silvretta and the Rätikon! From the Versettla mountain station with brass music over the Gantakopf through blueberries, a steep, rooty descent to Garfrescha. Relaxed climb along the rushing stream to Alpe Nova. This means there is little ascent on the piste road. Numerous marmots along the way. From the penultimate bend onwards there is again brass music from the Oktoberfest on Nova Stoba. Chilling out on the sun terrace with brass music & dancing...
Finally Sun! We start at the Alpenhotel Garfrescha and take the steep path through the forest to the Gantakopf. Komoot said goodbye at the beginning of the tour, so the time and km information are not quite correct. The ascent lets us breathe a lot, but at the top we are rewarded with a spectacular all-round view. We continue to follow the path to Nova Stoba and, despite the many hikers, even spot a few marmots. From here it goes down again and - which is fine with me - on a wide path with tar and gravel to Alpe Nova. Through the Novatal it goes on beautiful paths along the stream back to Garfrescha. My conclusion: fantastic views, a steep ascent but a pleasant descent and no difficult passages, a real pleasure tour.
After the Madrisella summit route didn't completely convince us last year, we gave the other side the chance based on this experience. There is one word about the Gantakopf panorama trail that says it all: Wow! 🤩🏞 The landscape is great and it's turned around so that you walk down the gravel path, which seems miserably long from below, down to Alpe Nova, and you're doing everything right in terms of highlights. No researched route description does justice to the beauty of the tour, perhaps because it is often walked the other way around. 🕵🏼♀️ So you have the gravel up to the alpine pasture at the beginning, then meadow paths with cows and a rushing stream and in Garfrescha you turn back up to the Gantakopf. Rooty, stony. It's fun to climb these meters and the reward of the view makes you forget about any effort. Oh, simply beautiful when you look at the mountains that are still covered in sugar! 😍🏔️
Beautiful panoramic tour in a breathtaking landscape 🤩🤣 Unfortunately there were two "air lines" again 🤔, hence the screenshot of Peter's recording 😉
We spontaneously visited friends in Schruns, enjoyed a delicious meal at the Josefsheim last night, and today went on a wonderful hike in the Silvretta in glorious weather. It was difficult to choose, with so many beautiful options, and ultimately it was Gantakopf or Madrisella. From the mountain village of Garfescha, we headed to Gantakopf. From the high trail there, you have an incredible 360-degree view! On the descent, we enjoyed a delicious cake at Alp Nova with a beautiful view of the Versattla and Madrisella, and the return journey along the Vermielbach stream was absolutely wonderful.
Unfortunately komoot messed up ALL photos this time! 😬 The tour was a suggestion from https://touren.montafon.at "Unfortunately" we only found the part up to the Nova Stoba nice and interesting. The path was varied, partly a bit sweaty (😉) and shortly before the Gantekopf came the foresight. From the Nova Stoba onwards, "mass tourism" set in and the quiet was over. 😎 So strength and on to Alpe Nova (for a milk drink 🤪) and back to the cable car. The way there was again a gravel path which is not so nice for the feet but makes the area attractive for bikers. 👍🏻 Well and that's it again. Until the next tour ... 🤟🏻
