Hiking
Mountain and valley, up and down, forest and meadows: This hike takes you from Hasborn into the valley of the Sammetbach, then over a ridge to the Alfbach and back again. Beautiful forest paths alternate between the watercourses and steep slopes with comfortable paths over wide meadows.
The route starts in the northeast of Hasborn, where there is a parking lot. After the first kilometer you have reached the Sammetbach. On wonderful paths through the secluded forest, you walk parallel to the course of the water. Shortly before you cross the stream, you will pass the Sauerbrunnen. With a ladle you can try the spring water, which is reddish in color due to its iron content and tastes a bit sour from the carbon dioxide.
Then you get to the plateau via a short ascent. Again and again you come across comfortable wooden benches with beautiful views. Shortly before Oberscheidweiler there are several boards in the forest with sheet music from the Oberscheidweiler men's choir. Anyone who can read music is cordially invited to sing a song in the forest.
After Oberscheidweil it goes downhill into the valley of the Alfbach. The Oberscheidweiler mill, which today houses an inn, stands on the bank. Now you follow the meanders of the stream until you climb back up to the plateau further south. Through the village of Niederscheidweiler you will find your way back to the Sammetbach, from which it is not far to the starting point.

Fancy contrasts? Fancy up and down? The hike on the 2 Bäche-Pfad (2 Streams Trail) leads around Hasborn, Ober- and Niederscheidweiler. In the area between the Lindenhof in Niederscheidweiler and Hasborn, the hike takes on an almost alpine character. The land around Ober- and Niederscheidweiler is characterized by Devonian bedrock. The plateau is mostly used for agriculture, and …
