The natural spectacle of glacier views

Easy round with a very "gentle" descent to the middle station.

What a treat today! Fantastic weather, a beautiful hike to the Starkenbergerhütte. It started off with a decent climb, but that didn't matter here. The Panoramaweg is easy to walk, though a bit narrow in places and with lots of gravel and steep slopes alongside the path. The views were fantastic. We enjoyed a well-deserved snack at the hut before embarking on a challenging descent. Almost 1000 meters of elevation gain down to the cable car's middle station. Easy to do, a wide road that's also used by many mountain bikers. We had a fantastic day! ☀️🎒🥾😀

I shortened the tour a bit by taking the Kreuzjochbahn cable car on the descent and rode to the mid-station in the morning, where the tour began. I rode along paths in the sun to the Starkenburger Hütte (great potato salad), but I was pretty much alone. The food at the hut was very good and there was a fantastic view of the glaciers and the Habicht. Afterwards, I climbed the Hoher Burgstall and enjoyed the magnificent panorama. Then the descent to the Kreuzjochbahn mountain station, including the Niederer Burgstall, had a drink there, and then took the cable car back down to the valley. A very nice tour with great views, but also quite crowded. I found it relatively harmless, though.

From the Kreuzjochbahn mountain station, we follow the well-marked trail toward Zuckerhütl-Blick and continue to Niederer Burgstall (2,436 m), the first summit with a great view overlooking the Stubai Valley. The trail mostly follows easy-to-access mountain paths with a moderate gradient. From here, a steeper, partly rocky ascent to Hoher Burgstall (2,611 m) follows, requiring surefootedness. The summit rewards with an impressive 360° panorama – from the Stubai Alps to the Karwendel. The descent takes us via the back of the Burgstall towards the Starkenburger Hütte (2,237 m), which is ideal for a leisurely stop. The hut is known for its excellent cuisine and magnificent viewing terrace. After the break, we continue downhill on the well-maintained trail toward Gartalm (1,673 m), which also offers a place to stop for refreshments. The trail leads through alpine meadows and repeatedly offers beautiful views down into the valley. From the Gartalm we take a moderate descent back to the middle station of the Kreuzjochbahn, from where we can comfortably return to the valley.

A grandiose hike with a lot of views. The only annoying thing is that Komoot stopped the recording about 3km before the Galtalm and afterwards only corrected it as the crow flies .. sometimes I love this app.
