Since I didn't set the starting point correctly and the Garmin didn't do what it was supposed to, unfortunately missed a small loop in Homfeld. Otherwise: a public tour on the doorstep.
The monastery mill is open again from Thursday to Sunday. The coffee and cake was delicious.
Today I did the "Eight Tour" with my wife. The name comes from the shape of the circular route, which winds through the landscape like a figure eight. The entire route is equipped with very good rideable paths, which were sometimes tarred, sometimes paved and sometimes gravelled. Only the ferry ride across the Weser deprived us of the solid ground. We chose Bruchhausen-Vilsen as the start and end point of the circular route. From there the route took us via Bücken, Schweringen, Eystrup, Hassel, Hoya and finally back to Bruchhausen-Vilsen. I have to say that it was a varied tour that we really enjoyed. A small highlight was that we passed the geographical center of Lower Saxony. In conclusion, I can only say that it was a great day of cycling.
The "Eight Tour" Cycle route through Eystrup - Hoya - Bruchhausen-Vilsen The total route in the form of a figure eight from Bruchhausen-Vilsen to Eystrup or vice versa has a length of around 54 km and can also be easily mastered by inexperienced cyclists. Let yourself be enchanted by the charm of the marshes and Geestranden landscapes. The route runs through the geographic center of Lower Saxony, past lakes, the Weser, mills and farmsteads, the main drainage canal (irrigation and drainage) and beautiful village, forest and meadow landscapes. Cyclists from further afield (e.g. Bremen/Hanover) can reach us via the DB train station in Eystrup or via the VBN bus line 150 (from Bremen via Syke to Bruchhausen-Vilsen). Tip: Take the historic “Kaffkieker” railcar on the way back. It is possible to take a bicycle with you. Booking and information at: www.kaffkieker.de Directions/Signage Eystrup and Bruchhausen-Vilsen railway stations are the best starting and finishing points for this circular tour through the old county of Grafschaft Hoya. Signposting is via the symbol on cycle path signs and at all important route points.
This morning at around 9:00 a.m. I set off with my little brother for a lap from "Bruchhausen-Vilsen" in the direction of "Eystrup". In between there are a lot of highlights, wonderful paths and pure nature. I got the route itself from the "Radtouren in der Mittelweser-Region" collection (https://www.komoot.de/collection/1233553/radtouren-in-der-mittelweser-region) and have adapted it a bit to my needs . Many thanks for that, a wonderful route - that in advance. It started at the "Heiligenberg" and led in the first almost 10km through the "border area" LK Diepholz/Nienburg. From time to time you can see smaller settlements, or even individual houses and that's the best way to describe the path - lonely and alone on wide fields and fields. Great! From "Duddenhausen" we went to "Bücken" and there the first highlight of this route. The "Stiftskirche" with adjacent "Alten Martkplatz", "Skulptur Statio" and portrait bust of "Mr. Hotzen". I entered the church for the first time today, although I drove past there again and again. A beautiful building from the inside too, what else could you expect... We continued in the direction of "Schweringen", where our crossing of the "Weser" with the local ferry was planned. But before that we took a break at the spacious rest area with some sights/information boards. For €4, we then went over the "Weser" and via "Gandesbergen" and "Eystrup" to "Hoya". In between there was always something to see, so that one never had the feeling that anything would seem monotonous here. After we drove through the count town of "Hoya" we went along the canal to "Hoyerhagen", where the "geographical center of Lower Saxony" awaited us. A smartly designed place in the middle of nowhere and I would recommend everyone to have been here. From there we walked along the "main canal" for a while and the climatic health resort "Bruchhausen-Vilsen" lay before us again. But this time we are right in the middle, across the main street and the market square (Brokser marriage market area) and the museum railway station. For the final then again via "Homfeld" and the "Klostermühle" to our start/end point. The conclusion of this bicycle tour follows. With this so-called "eight tour" (original title) you often can't stop being enthusiastic. One highlight after the other and in between almost deserted routes. There are beautiful buildings, statues, courtyards and sculptures. The ferry ride, combined with a break at the local rest area, Eystrup with its windmill "Margharete" and of course the center of Lower Saxony and much more. The ways are i. i.e. R. attached and often tarred. If you drive along the "main canal" shortly before Bruchhausen-Vilsen, you will find some bumps in the meadow path, so you should be a little more careful on the road. Otherwise absolutely recommendable, 5 out of 5 stars - there is not a single shortcoming that has clouded this round. Great round on beautiful paths with some places to stop. We recommend the "Hol (ü) Bar 🌭🍟🍔🍺☕️ at the Schweringer ferry.
Parking in the city center of Bruchhausen-Vilsen. At the train station or on Sundays at one of the supermarkets. About small ways to the windmill Hoyerhagen. Along the main canal through Hoya over the Weser Bridge. Via Hassel to Eystrup. Short stop in the Paarmann beer garden. After the Eystrup windmill via Gandesbergen to the Weser ferry in Schweringen. Coffee break at CaHeu Hofcafe Schweringen. On the way back, via Bücken, a detour to the Vilsa factory and then a short stop at the Bruchhausen Vilsen museum station. Nice varied tour.
Today we explored a different part of the country by bike. We started in Bruchhausen-Vilsen and after leaving the city, we cycled through meadows and fields to Bücken, always on easy-to-ride paths. After enjoying coffee ☕️ and delicious cake in the Catucho roastery, we visited the beautiful church. It has great acoustics - a woman was practicing and her singing filled the whole church. The tour continued until we finally got a view of the Weser and the ferry ⛴️. We then took the ferry to the other side and through fields where the harvest was in full swing (I've never seen such high stacks of straw as in these fields) always close to the river to Hoya. There we crossed the Weser again and then went over the Wöpser Berg back to the starting point. Overall, a very beautiful and easy route, a particular highlight was Bücken but also all the individual large and small farms and old houses along the route are well worth seeing.
