Slow Trail Kloster Wernberg – Urlaubsregion Villach-Faaker See-Ossiacher See

Pure natural idyll – that awaits you on your hike along the Drau loop near Villach. It starts at the Kloster Wernberg car park. Soon you will reach the two idyllic monastery ponds, which are managed by the Villach sport and breeding fishing club. Here you can stop for a short while, take a deep breath and admire the monastery walls.

Numerous fish species are bred in the ponds and later released into rivers, streams or lakes.
Accompanied by numerous information boards about the local fauna, you will reach the bank of the Drau loop after crossing two streams. The hammock invites you to unwind and let your gaze wander over the water. Wonderfully relaxing! Ascending via a narrow zigzag path, you will later reach a small viewpoint. The most strenuous part would be done.

With a good pair of binoculars, you can observe and discover numerous bird species here. The Drau loop is known for being a valuable habitat for breeding birds, but also for migratory bird species.
After you have looked around, you now start your way back.
