On the Slow Trail Faaker See you explore the idyllic nature and landscape protection area on the edge of the Drobollacher Moors. You hike at the foot of the Karawanken with the Mittagskogel as the most striking and highest elevation in the Villach region and experience a lake that is wonderfully integrated into this idyll.
It starts at the village pond in Faak am See.
From there you can reach the Fillialkirche Faak am See, which is dedicated to Saint George. A visit to the cool church is not only recommended on hot days. You can also make a short stop under the linden trees with dense foliage and enjoy the shade. The south wall of the church is adorned with a fresco of Christophorus from the first half of the 16th century.
Later you dive into the cool forest. After a slight ascent you will reach a small intersection. Here you can decide whether you want to hike to the peninsula or to Drobollach am Faaker See. The tour described here branches off to the peninsula.
You can reach the federal sports and leisure center at the eastern end via natural, partly rooted paths and walk the last ten minutes on the path near the shore to the end of the peninsula with another small lake access as a swimming opportunity.
