The hike starts at the town hall in Wallgau, accessible via the bus stop of the same name. From the town hall, follow the signs towards the Haus des Gastes (Guest House). Once there, continue over the Finz Bridge, past the Bärnbichl district of Krün, and through the underpass to the Maria Rast Chapel. From here, enjoy the road along the Buckelwiesen meadows to the Goas Alm, which offers a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of Mittenwald.
The Buckelwiesen meadows between Wallgau and Mittenwald are a unique landscape formed by the glaciers of the last Ice Age. This unique landscape is now a nature reserve. The farmers in the area have committed themselves to practicing only traditional agriculture and thus preserving the Buckelwiesen in their original form. Past the Schmalensee, the trail leads you over the Gröbl Alm to the historic town center of Mittenwald.

Today we took the bus to the farmers' market in Wallgau. It's a shame we just had breakfast; there were so many delicious options 😋. Then we hiked back across the Buckelwiesen meadows to Mittenwald 😊🌞
Wallgau → Mittenwald across the hilly meadows: waves instead of walls, flow instead of stress. A green carpet beneath your feet, the rugged Karwendel range to the left, the Alpspitze and the Zugspitze massif in the background to the right. Gentle climbs, short downhills, and plenty of photo stops. Technically easy, with a great landscape, a pleasant route with momentum that rolls you closer to Mittenwald with every crest.
Next to the parish church of St. Jakob in Wallgau there is a bell of honor for those who died in the world wars. The Way of St. James leads to the Obernach Canal and on to Krün. We march with wonderful views of the mountains (Karwendl, Wetterstein massif and Zugspitze massif) in the direction of the Maria Rast chapel. From there we walk on the elevated road over the Buckelwiesen. Highly Recommended! The weather is kind to us, if the many benches are exposed to the sun, we look for shade under trees. Yes, they have folding chairs. Helicopters keep circling, a lot of police are on the move, G 7. Meeting the pilgrim couple Andrea and Oliver. Lively entertainment. A cool coke in Mittenwald, to the church of St. Peter and Paul and by bus to our quarters in Krün.
A nice and promising tour to rest. The feet were also happy about the airier footwear 😉
Today in the best weather from Wallgau over the Buckelwiesen to Mittenwald. It was wonderful. Small point of criticism ... it is completely tarred through the humpback meadows. And another small tip with the guest card you can go back for free.
