The Marmolada Glacier bears its title with pride – as the "Queen of the Dolomites," it towers over the landscape and lends this tour its majestic character. It's no wonder, then, that we call it the queen stage of our Alta Badia Collection: impressive, challenging, and unforgettable in every respect.

The route runs along the foot of the glacier and leads through four iconic Dolomite valleys – Val Badia, Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, and Livinallongo/Fodom. Each section brings its own topography, unique lighting, and unique stories – an interplay that makes the ride varied and exciting.

Awaiting you are steep climbs, technically challenging descents, and a multitude of hairpin bends that will make any road cyclist's heart beat faster. Many of the roads have long since achieved cult status – history was made here, and pros have competed here. Today, it's your stage.

Colfosco

Highlight • Settlement

Located at the foot of the Sellastock and Sassongher and on the Sella Ronda route, this small town is an oasis of calm. Enjoy them with a beautiful view during a short break. ;)

Passo Sella – Rifugio Maria Flora

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Once or twice a year there is also the Sellarondabikeday. You can “enjoy” the whole thing without car traffic. This means that even more people are traveling by bike.

Canazei

Highlight • Settlement

Canazei is one of the main centers of the Val di Fassa. Various hiking trails, ski slopes and, last but not least, the climbs that lead to the Sella, Pordoi and Fedaia passes start from here.

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Very nice section, both up and down. I can still remember the time when this climb/descent was still single track and it was still an adventure to drive it.

Arabba

Highlight • Settlement

If you look at the area around Arabba on the map, you will find a lot of well-known pass roads. No wonder: Arabba is located between the Sella group and the Marmolada massif and when you ride the Sella Ronda, you come here automatically. Whether as a break or base camp for a racing bike holiday: In any case, it is really nice in the small town in the heart of the Dolomites.

Campolongo Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Campolongo is the "smallest" of the Dolomite passes, and the elevation gain is relatively manageable at 368 meters (north ascent from Corvara). Nevertheless, it's a beautiful route: You gaze down upon lush mountain meadows on one side and up at the rugged rock faces of the Sella massif on the other. On the Sella Ronda, it's the "fourth in the group" and more of a small "pleasure pass" than a tough challenge.

Trail Reviews

Uwe
June 19, 2024, RR Corvara - Lago di Fedaia

I set off very early in the morning to be the first to reach the Gardena Pass. A very quiet, relaxed atmosphere without all the cars and mopeds. I didn't have to join in with the mountain runners' warm-up program, I was already warm enough. On the way down from the Sella, I met hundreds of cyclists, all heading for the Sella circuit. On the Fedaia, however, I was practically alone. The direct connection from Rocca Pietore via the SP63 was closed due to construction work. So, for once, I went up via Caprile in what felt like 35 degrees to the start of the Falzarego. I left that to the left and rode to Arabba with a nice tailwind. The actually easy Campolongo was enough for me.

When @dacom suggests a Maratona preparatory lap, it's hard to turn it down 🤠🤪😄 Perfect group with Jakob Seevaldt and Nils 👍🍻 I'm curious to see how @Hanky 🍁 characterizes the Passo di Fedaia 🤔 Because it's much worse than the Giau 😳😄

Because it was so nice to do the Pordoi again... Final tour in the Dolomites 😥

Day 2 in the Dolomites 🌄🚴‍♂️! Today's ride was nothing short of fantastic. The weather was warm and sunny, giving us lots of vitamin D ☀️. My Wahoo head unit showed up to 45 degrees 🥵! First up was the Passo Fedaia, with its gorgeous dam at the summit - the view was simply unforgettable 🏞️. After a short downhill, we tackled the longest climb of the day from Col di Rocca to the summit of the Passo Pordoi. Yesterday we climbed it from the opposite side, but today’s climb was longer and the stunning views made every drop of sweat worth it. At the top, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains 🏔️. The Dolomites are truly a must-ride for all cycling enthusiasts. So many beautiful passes and the views never cease to impress, pass after pass 🚴‍♀️. Now it's time to relax and prepare for the next rides to come. Thanks for following this beautiful journey. Videos will be dropping on my YouTube channel soon, stay tuned 🎥📺!

Pordoi mostly done in 3rd gear, 540-600m/h, >= 160 bpm Fedaia middle part steep: 10-13%
