Today, in the sunshine, we headed to the Rhine Valley vineyards—sunshine and a prime location on Premiumweg. The grapes look good and juicy. Finally, we headed to the hotspot of Germania/Niederwalddenkmal. Of course, there were several cafes, tourists, and crowds—but also very impressive and imposing. (Not destroyed in the war, despite the strategically good visibility).
Today I took the train 🚆 to Rüdesheim. I hiked the large Rüdesheim loop trail and then briefly visited the Christmas market 🌲🕯😋. I finished with mulled wine and then headed back to the train station 👍 This trip is highly recommended 😃
Today on my round 🎂🎉🍻 a super nice round: From Rüdesheim, follow the history trail to Assmannshausen. The weather 🌍☀⛅☁💧⚡❄so ollalla. Nevertheless, the sun ☀ can also be seen in alternation. On the Assmannshäusener Höllenweg you have a great view back to where you came from. Also to Rheinstein Castle and Reichenstein. Via the Niederwald monument 🏛 the path continues to the Abbey of St. Hildegard. There you can linger and stroll in the shop. It's only a few kilometers down to Rüdesbeim.
The tour is actually called the "Great Rüdesheimer Runde" But since I only started at around 2:00 p.m., I left out Rüdesheim 😅! Will definitely be made up 😉 Otherwise it is a really very nice path through the vineyards with great viewpoints 😎👍
Today we went from Rüdesheim along the vineyards to Assmannshausen. The place reminded me of the Cinque Terre. We went up and down a well-signposted hiking trail from the Rheingausgut in the Niederwald with historical explanations. In 1774, Count Karl Maximilian von Ostein designed the Niederwald into a romantic landscape park with an English character based on the parks of the time. We went back to Rüdesheim along the Niederwald monument and the Goethe temple. There we had a refreshment stop in the famous Drosselgasse, and then, after a light installation in the Brömserburg, we went back to the starting point.
Wonderful hike on the Rhine slope with fantastic weather! Colorful nature - sometimes almost magical in the fog ...
Today at breakfast on the terrace, we decided to finally hike the Great Rüdesheim Loop, which has been on our to-do list for ages. It officially starts in Rüdesheim at Brömserburg Castle. However, parking there isn't free. This is a good place to start the hike if you arrive by train. You can find the GPX download for the Rüdesheim start here: https://www.rheingau.com/tour/grosse-ruedesheimer-runde-mit-schlei/tour.html We started at the Höllenbergstraße parking lot in Assmannshausen. From there, we hiked up Höllenberg to Aulhausen. We hadn't hiked the section from Aulhausen to the Niederwald Monument before. It was a lovely path through the woods. The initial uphill climb was a bit strenuous, and there were a few damp patches later in the forest, but it was a beautiful trail that would surely be even more idyllic when the leaves are in bloom. At the Niederwald Monument, the signs actually lead behind the monument towards the Niederwald Temple and the Rebhaus (vineyard house), but you shouldn't miss the monument and the viewing platform in front of it. We continued through the vineyards towards the "Am Ramstein" viewpoint. The signage here was a bit confusing for us, but that was because the signs also include the access route to Rüdesheim. In addition, there's another route (which we took) that leads below the viewpoint past Ramstein. The return journey took us below the Niederwald through the vineyards with a constant view of the Rhine. It was a great hike that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Fantastic weather and nice tour. It's really cool if you can't just do it on the weekend! Beautiful views
